My girlfriend and I were starving and wanted to grab something tasty that was nearby so we decided to give takeout from Viet Cajun a try.

I called to place an order and the phone rang for quite a while. I had put the phone down and let it keep ringing while chatting with my girlfriend and to my surprise a few minutes later I actually heard a sound coming from the phone when someone actually picked up. I placed my order over the phone, two entrees and a side, and was a little taken aback when the employee told me the total would be $40.02. Looking back at what we ordered I really wish I had gotten a receipt because that math does not add up.

When I arrived to pick up my order it went pretty smoothly. The place was decently clean and the cashier I dealt with was nice. When I got home the food was still very hot and the portions were huge. I can somewhat understand an increase in price due to the portion size but the total I paid for the meal still seems outrageous.

The food itself was pretty good. I would classify it as comfort food and since we were starving it really hit the spot. The only issue is I personally feel as if the dishes lacked the quality taste to justify the high price point.

While this meal was good in the moment, looking at the total on my credit card I am suffering from buyer's remorse. I feel like if I wanted comfort food I could have had an equal if not better meal for about a quarter of the...

GALVESTON… OHHHH GALVESTON… why has nobody ever mentioned Viet Cajun before?!?!

WHY??? 😩😩😩

I’m not going to make this one into a book because I don’t want to bore anybody with my love for Vietnamese food… BUT… GUYS!!!!

OMG!!! O-M-G!!!

I was not expecting what I got… I couldn’t really mash up Vietnamese and Cajun food in my head… but its that type of food you never thought you needed or wanted, but soooo glad you have it now. Does that make sense???

I’m going to be honest… I had no idea this place existed. But a person who read my review on Pho Tai said, you have to go try Viet Cajun… and boy oh boy were they sooooo right about this place.

I’m gonna let the pictures speak for themselves…

But those LOADED FRIES!!! Thank you Lord baby Jesus for whoever had the idea for them…🙌🏽

The bahn mi sandwich was outstanding.

I asked for a small rice and I swear they must have looked at me and said he looks hungry because it had to have been half a sack of rice on that plate. But it was so so delicious also.

Go try them yall…. It is LEGIT!!!

Here is their info in case somebody wants to try them:

Viet Cajun 8910 FM-3005 Ste E Galveston, TX 77554 (409) 497-2216

And I promise… not all my reviews will be on Vietnamese food… I’ll be trying a lot of new places this year and sharing any of them that I enjoy, with you all.

Thank you and God Bless… 🙏🏽

I am a review reader and decided I needed to try this place. I told my wife beforehand not to be concerned with the appearance of the place and assured her it would be good. We walked in the place and made it about two minutes before my wife informed me that we would not be eating here (smh). So we left and went to a “safer” establishment that we frequent. That evening she assured me that she wasn’t hungry (another smh) so I decide to call in an order here to try it out. I ordered the fried shrimp and fried rice to go. It was an easy transaction and they called to inform me my order was ready and I walked in and picked it up. Made it home and open the box and was pleasantly surprised with what I saw. Before I could take a bite, the love of my life (who was not hungry) snags a beautiful fried shrimp and devours it. Before I could say anything smart to her she snagged my fork and took a healing scoop of the fried rice. Then another and another. Guess what…..she loved it….all of it and wanted more. I quickly reminded her that she was not hungry and to go do the dishes. I finally got to eat my wonderful meal and cannot wait to go back and try other items. Highly recommend eating here!!!!!

PS - We are both seafood snobs and I am a lover of Chinese food. This seems like the best of both worlds. Either show ur wife this review or just...

After reading other reviews, we decided to order pickup from Viet Cajun. The pork banh mi was as good as the reviews mentioned, maybe even better. I have never had banh mi that was so good! They also have a chicken version, though we did not try that version. Another option that we did not try was double meat. I don't know how you could still eat it as a handheld with that much meat. We also tried the pork egg rolls, and they were fantastic. Finally, we got the chicken gumbo. Again, it was fantastic. The roux is truly a roux and not a gravy texture that some restaurants serve. Also they served the rice separately so we could add as much or as little as we wanted. It was so good that I forgot to take pictures. It was so good that we ordered from them the next night as well. The second night we tried their chicken fried rice. It was as good as everything else. One thing I really liked about it was that the chicken is cut into small chunks instead of shredded or minced.
