I renovated a room at this hotel on Reservations.com a whole month before I came. I arrived at the hotel around 10:30am and tried to check in but the lady at the front told me that they sold it (and apparently sold out all the rooms) the last two nights before. She told me that I could call back around 12-1pm and check for an update. Totally fine! I understand. My aunt called and she was told to come up there at 2pm and it would be ready and clean. Went up there, the same lady who had informed us that it would be ready at 2 told us that it was still not ready. She said I could have a bottom floor room or wait for the one I paid for and it would FOR SURE be ready at 3pm. Now, keep in mind I drove 8 hours all the way the Galveston and since then, I’ve ate twice, went shopping, exploring, and went on the beach while my room was supposedly “being cleaned”. Continuing, I arrive at 3:15pm and I walk in and there was another young women who was there and she told us she could help us. I went to her, explained that I had a reservation and was told it was being clean and it would be clean by 3. She told me that normally check in is not until 4pm. (WHILE I SEEN PEOPLE CHECK IN AND GET THIR KEYCARDS! Not only that, but they only have 3 floors and check out is at 11am and you can’t clean a reserved room within 5 HOURS??) The lady who originally helped us kept looking over at us while we were having a conversation and she LEFT HER CUSTOMER that she was helping and interrupted the lady who was helping me and said that we were lying to her. The two workers briefly spoke in Spanish and the original woman clapped her hands at us and said “Uh, no ma’am, I told you 3:30-4 it would be ready.” And I explained to her that she told us a lot earlier and kept pushing it back. She kept saying (and LYING) saying “no, no I did not.” And on and on. So I calmly said (yes, after arguing this rude, unbelievably unprofessional worker and I caught an attitude) that “well, I had a reservation and thought that my room would have been ready as they knew I was coming. I was told it would be ready and kept being pushed back, and that next time you can just tell me check in is not until 4 rather than trying to skim by and then lie about it.”
Then, in the car I was too tired and just wanted to put my bags down so I called another hotel and they said they would let me check in and have a room ready, with a cheaper cost. So I told the lady I wanted a refund and I didn’t want to stay here. I obviously used a website and they told me they couldn’t do it, I had to go through the site. While saying “you’re welcome” but with an attitude I did my best to get a refund because they refused to give me a room. Reservations.com apparently doesn’t do refunds after I paid close to $400 for my room I refused to leave.
I sent my boyfriend in and he claims as soon as he walked in and heard the name “Reservation for Autumn King” the two women working on June 27th, 2022 at 3pm both walked to the back and stayed there until we went in. He went to the gentleman sitting down, and the gentleman said that our room was ready not even 5 minutes after these two women told us it wasn’t. I walked in, and the room was not worth the price. No cover to stay warm (my aunt is always cold while I am always hot) and the TV only had a handful of channels, no Direct TV or Dish. It was just cable.
Then, while in the pool and all of these kids playing at 10pm, that same woman came out and told everyone the pool was closed and we had to leave. By that time a day had passed so I wasn’t so aggravated. I know she was only doing her job, but after having a few conversations with the other guests, they also had a few bad experiences and they were upset that the pool closed DURING THE SUMMER at 10pm, while everyone was still awake. Side note, me and my aunt (who we went back fourth arguing with about the check-in) looked at both of us directly when saying the pool is closed. Definitely will...
Read moreWhat could have been a 3 star but now a 0.
Location – Great location, across the street from the beach. Close by to many eateries.
Hotel Bedroom – Family Room was spacious with 3 beds, wood floor, and mini fridge.
Bathroom – Good size bathroom, however the tub has been painted over to cover the rust. Once you shower the water will run over the paint revealing orange rust stains.
View from room – Our view was the dumpster, lol.
Hotel Breakfast – Packed full of guest and not enough food or appliances. There was only one waffle maker and it was a mess. We ended up eating out elsewhere.
Customer Service – Here is where my 3 star dropped to a 0. We noticed what look to be blood stain on our pillow, we called the front desk over 5 times and no one picked up, so I decided to call the button noted reservation line, once they picked up I was told that the hotel is not apart of their chain and it must have been one that was but is no longer and they’ve must have not changed their number? I went downstairs and spoke with the front desk and informed him that our pillow has what look like to be blood stains, he handed me two pillows to replace it and ask that I talk to the manager in the morning. I informed him that the phone line dialed a different hotel chain as well.
In the morning I spoke with the manager and informed her that the pillow had blood stains, she said she’ll send someone up to our room to investigate it. She then told me that the cleaning lady told her it was fresh blood stain because old blood stain would have been black not dark red. No apologies, but more of an argument from their end. All we knew was that there’s stains on our pillow, dark red, looks like blood, not our blood—instead of apologizing they wanted to argue whether the stain was fresh or not. After a good amount of time, they offered us a partial refund.
Later on that night when we got back to the hotel, we noticed that only one of our three beds were made, they apparently decided to ignore the other two beds. They did not replace the towels either.
Will not be staying at this...
Read moreIt's just a place to sleep & thank God no one broke into our truck here. When we arrived there was a smell I couldn't identify that wasn't good. The girl at the front desk was confused. She didn't know how to check us in. A guy came help her who also didn't know how. They finally gave us a room on the second floor. Room was pretty, nice furnishings and recently renovated but was not clean. Used tissues/napkins wadded up in desk chair, floor was sticky, and bed sheets were slept on. We went downstairs & asked if house keeping could come clean. The confused girl said No one could clean it. I asked for sheets so I could change them - she refused and said impossible. She changed our room. We went to the next room on third floor. It was a little cleaner, but not much. The sheets were clean & that's all we cared about at that point. We did not receive our complimentary snack at check-in as per the Best Western Reward program. No-one knew what that was. The bed slept well and the air worked great. The elevator was constantly wet as well as the floor. I almost fell down a couple times. There's no real breakfast, but there was coffee & hazelnut creamer, so I was happy.
Our 2nd day we were told we needed to check-in again. A different lady at front desk told my husband to come back later in the day to do it. She didn't know how to check us in. There's adequate parking available. Hotel is near end of seawall and there's no beach here. The smell I couldn't identify was old urine...like a nursing home. It grew stronger the longer we were there. It was disturbing. This is the most sketchy, uneducated & stinky Best Western I've stayed at in over 56 cities and 17 states.
Best advice: There are 2 Best Westerns at this location. We stayed at the one with Blue sign. The other one (Red sign) is the better one. It's much much nicer, clean, and doesn't...
