I finally came in to buy coffee beans last weekend after telling everyone I know how good the coffee is at Jo Vino's and Coffee Studio. I bought the beans and then bought a coffee and after I paid, the barista said, "Oh sorry, you get a free cup of coffee with your beans". Since by that point, I had already purchased coffee, she said, "No worries, next time you are in the area, come by and we'll give you a cup of coffee." I just happened to be in the area taking my son to Bogus this morning and I live in Nampa so I figured I would stop in and grab that cup of coffee. I have never had a barista behave that way towards me and I'm 40 years old. She said " We don't do that, what was the baristas name and where is your receipt?" I said I didn't have it and that I didn't know I needed it. She did everything BUT accuse me of trying to steal a 12 OUNCE CUP OF DRIP COFFEE. She said "We'll make an exception this time but moving forward, we won't be able to do this" As if I'm going to try again next weekend?? She said all of this in front of many other guests and it was absolutely humiliating. What crazy is I don't even drink drip coffee anymore and have credited your coffee many times as to why I'm an americano obsessed woman now. I never in a million years would have come in and redeemed that little drip coffee if I would have known that is how I would be treated and quite honestly, I will never step foot in your coffee shop again. I had an appointment to meet a new client at your other Boise location and it is now rescheduled to a different coffee shop. The coffee shops that serve your beans WOULD NEVER NEVER NEVER treat a customer like that.

Really cool atmosphere but unfortunately their coffee was not up to par. Tried the latte and Mexican Mocha but both were way off point. The Mexican Mocha was overly sweet and had no spice to it. After asking, I found out they don't use cayenne at all and only use a powder mix with cinnamon and mexican chocolate. Not how a gourmet coffee shop should be doing it. The latte was really burnt. So burnt it would make Starbucks blush. And not only that, they poured the the bottom sooty, silty residual into the cup. Giving it a tart and lingering taste. Beans were ok. More like a mid-grade bean. Nothing spectacular. The Danish and banana bread was meh. Danish had a processed lemon taste to it even though it was labeled as a Danish only. No lemon being mentioned. The banana bread was very moist but for $4, the bread was only about 2/3 the size of a stick of butter and had no walnuts. Won't be back anytime soon. Too bad cause it has a rad vibe.

Service was cold, coffee was hot! I came for the coffee but service does matter. They said they would call when coffee was ready. They have an outdoor area open to the inside so you can hear when they call. Never heard them call anyone while outside, forty feet from counter with an open wall between us. When I went to check drinks, ours were on the counter. I asked if they were mine, “yes”; which is which? “They are labeled”. Then I hear same girl call an order. Mumble would be more like it. Certainly would not hear her unless I was at the counter. Drinks were hot and flavorful. But not any better than anyplace else in the area. Price was good. I even over tipped before the full experience. Wish I had tipped less, much less.🤣 Wife liked it, so we will try again.

My wife and I stopped in to check out the location on State Street the other afternoon for a coffee and baked goods. I seldom write reviews, but I believe that this will likely help others in making a decision. Atmosphere is a solid 5. Nice decor, lots of seating, plants and a warm vibe. What wasn't warm was the service. There was a small group of I'd say mid twenties employees chatting away with each other about who knows what, but eventually one of them figured they should probably take an order from someone who had been patiently standing right in front of them at the counter. No smile or polite greeting, just a blank stare as if to say hurry up and tell me what you want so I can get back to more important things. Service gets a 1 star. Sat in one of the big couches, but it wasn't very comfortable - sort of like a firm futon - whatever, the rest of the place was comfy feeling and I just moved over into one of the chairs and found that a lot more comfortable. We had high hopes for the coffee. Certainly when employees have an attitude like this they MUST be backing it up with amazing coffee, otherwise who in their right mind would put up with this. Ughhh...12 oz americano and it was so weak that I had to go ask if they generally do a single or double shot. (As many people who drink Americanos know 2 shots in a 12 oz is customary or it gets watered down). I was floored when she barely rattled out the word double and gave me an other scowl for taking her away from social hour with her fellow employees. The mocha was even worse. Also 12 oz with supposedly 2 shots and no whip, but it had zero coffee flavor. Sweetest mocha I have had in years and I make it a point to try them at nearly all the shops I visit. I'm talking so sweet that after 2-3 sips I just couldn't even drink it. Food highlight was the Chocolate Zucchini muffin. This was very tasty and on it's own would get a 3 stars. Flavor was good, but texture was a little off. We honestly really wanted to love this place as soon as we walked in and saw the decor. We would even put up with rude service if the coffee was excellent, but it is the worst that we have had in Boise so far. Instead, try Alchemist, Flying M, Push & Pour or Form & Function. Have been to each of those several times in the past few weeks and they all delivered great quality drinks (Americanos, Mochas, etc.) without...

Was so excited to find this place, can't believe it took me years! Coffee is spot on, roasted on site, so fresh beans! Wide variety of food and espresso drinks, so far not a single thing has disappointed.

I work from home, so getting out once a week is a must and this is my Go To Place now. There is a lot of seating, great WiFi, and the atmosphere is inviting and fun...Love coming here. Super Staff, friendly, knowledgeable and contrary to many reviews here....they Staff are ALL wearing masks. (Dec 2020-Jan 2021) I have only been coming in a month or so. I also LOVE they don't make you wear one while you are at your table, working, drinking and eating. Most people coming in, are decent human beings and wear a mask on entry. . . those who don't - their choice.

Small businesses need help from the rest of us, although I don't think Caffeina will have any issues, always busy. With the coffee, food and excellent staff I can see why.

Proud to be a regular here now...keep up the exceptional work. Can't wait to come in the evening...
