18 May ‘25 ordered hamburger steak, baked potato, coleslaw. The potato was small but hot and was the best part of the meal. The coleslaw was coleslaw. The hamburger steak tasted a little like soap and had big chunks of black crispy stuck to it like it was cooked on a dirty grill. The black crispy chunks were hard as rocks. Couldn’t eat it. The server had the personality of a robot but she did put everything I asked for in the bag.

2 Sep’24 4:15 pm changing my 5 star review to 1 today. Ordered the single side entree shrimp with baked potato. So for $10.99+tax+tip I received 12 shrimp, two little hush puppies, and a tiny potato that was barely warm. Counting shrimp is not something I normally do but I swear when I opened the container it looked practically empty. Called and spoke to manager and was told he wasn’t at the window when my order came out and he said he’d talk to kitchen. People who put the blame on others are low IMO and he offered no apology. He also told me that 15 shrimp usually come in a single side entree. I’ve been ordering this since single side entree became an option and I’ve never received such a plate as this. The server was excellent.

10 Jun ‘24 4:15 changing my one star review to five. Ordered at curb, server was friendly and fast. Don’t know her name but she called me Boo several times. Ordered the fried shrimp dinner fried crispy, baked potato with butter and sour cream, and coleslaw, $20.32 includes tax. Shrimp were crispy, hot and delicious. Potato cooked perfectly creamy inside. No complaints.

31 Mar ‘24 2:24 pm one star. Placed online order for curbside pickup. Order was ready when promised. Ordered flounder shrimp combos fried crispy, fries fried crispy and coleslaw. The flounder was soggy and not at all crispy, also had several tiny bones in it. The breading on the fish just fell off as I forked it. The shrimp were far from crispy. The fries were half cooked. Nothing was hot. Received very small amount of slaw. Ordered unsweetened tea and received sweet. You know it’s been awhile since my last order here, see below from Dec ‘23, thought it might be better but it was not. Just another disappointing meal from this Hilliards. Also left tip when ordered online, should not have since I’m fairly certain the server who brought my order also gave me sweet tea. SMDH.

23 Dec ‘23 @ 3 pm. Ordered club sandwich with fries and large tea at the drive up. The young lady that took my order was very nice. After over 20 minutes my order came out. Tea was good and sugary as usual. The fries were cold and old. The sandwich had one tiny piece of bacon on 1/4 of the sandwich and ham on only two parts. The lettuce was brown in places. The one tiny piece of tomato was not good. Parts had nothing between the pieces of bread. Literally belonged in the garbage which is exactly where it went. Got to the restaurant around 830 pm with a group of 13 and was not that busy didn't take long to get seated. Took about 30 minutes to get the food. I ordered the turkey club as well as 2 others, when we got our food my sandwich did not have bacon on it. 2 other people in the group had a hamburger and barbecue sandwich. Had to send the barbecue sandwich back because it had nothing but fat. The cheeseburger went back because it didn't have the correct toppings, told the waitress that my sandwich did not have bacon. Second round of food 15 minutes later the hamburger was correct the barbecue sandwich still nothing but fat and the solution to the problem with my sandwich not having bacon was to bring me 3 strips of bacon to put on my sandwich myself. The barbecue sandwich was once again sent back and we explained to the waitress that if I was going to have to make my own sandwich that they could take it off the bill and I would go home and make my own sandwich. Sandwich was remade and taken off the ticket, my mother that had ordered the barbecue sandwich did not receive anything and was told by the manager that her bill which included her grandsons hamburger would be taken care of. We all pay and walk out at 1030. On the way to the car our incompetent waitress Amanda chases my mother to her car and tells her that she has to pay for her meal, my mother who is pretty angry at this point grabs the ticket and walks to the door saying I am telly tired of this tonight and the waitress replies with I am really tired of you all. My mother talks to the manager and the manager tells her that she doesn't have to pay for the meal. As we leave the manager walks outside and sencerly apologizes to us for all the problems. I do not think that waitresses should be chasing costumers out the door and speaking the way that Amanda did to any costumer and I think she should be fired. This was the worst experience I have ever had at any restaurant in my etire life life. I have lived in Savannah my entire life and I have loved going to Carey Hillards since I was a kid, and it is no longer what it was. I am never going to step foot in a Carey Hillards restaurant again. Tried again in 2022...

I was very disappointed about this visit today. I have not visited a Carey Hilliards in 18 years. Walked into the restaurant, and apparently, a group of individuals who worked there was having some kind of lunch or break at the bar. No greeting. The hostess finally came around and seated us. Order wings, which was the only item there we enjoyed. The fish batter had no seasoning and had fried tilapia with bland batter. The flounder my mom had was just as bland. No seasoning on the fries, the macaroni cheese, string beans. The potatoes salad was entirely too sweet. I think the biggest disappointment was the hushpuppies, one of our favorite things to eat. Smh. The waitress lacks attentiveness, no kind of personality, just as bland as the food there. I complained about the taste of the hushpuppies, and she looked at me like a deer in headlights. I then asked for the manager, who was a woman, and she too lacked personality. She took off one of the hushpuppies I paid for. I only wanted to replace my side with another one. She told me they could only offer me a toast to replace it. This experience was a waste of time for me. First and last time. The manager never told me her name. The waitress never told me her name, I got her name off the receipt (Shania). This was 4:00-4:48pm. Whoever was the manager on duty during this time was who I spoke with. Paid $67.36 and was still hungry. Went to another restaurant, paid less, and got better tasting food and customer service. If I could give this place a half star, I would.
