Lorena's Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Garden City

I am going to preface this review by saying that the gentleman who was working when I stopped by today was working alone. Apparently someone went on vacation and left him to hold down the fort by himself. I think he was doing an awesome job, politely greeting each customer, repeating the order back to ensure he got it right, and preparing the food with no support.

That being said, there were at least 2 couples ahead of me, so the wait was a bit longer than I would have liked under normal circumstances, but not excessive under these conditions.

I ordered a "lunch special combo" each for myself and my son; 1 carne asada taco, 1 chicken taco, rice , and beans in each combo.

Let me say, the carne asada was VERY good. Flavorful, with just the right amount of oregano, cilantro, and lime.

The chicken was similarly good, but could have used a little more spice in my opinion. Your mileage may vary on that.

The rice was good, but the beans tasted a bit thin snd watery, like they were using the same beans Taco Bell does and added too much water when reconstituting them.

All in all, my son and I decided that the food, prices, AND service deserve a repeat visit when the full staff is there and their at their best... so stay tuned for a follow-up review in the...

I go to restraunts for the sole purpose to get the best breakfast burrito. And finally I have found it here at this modest food truck. Lorenas mexican food. I have been to many restraunts across the country, in search of my perfect breakfast burrito. And just as I had thought that the boise area and surrounding cities was a complete loss of hope. I stumbled across lorenas food truck. But her talents are not just limited to breakfast I have tried a couple of her authentic Mexican food items and have found her passion for food shows in her work. And is unsurpassed in her culinary art. As a foodie and a food truck owner opporator myself. I must admit defeat finally and concede to her superior talents. As my breakfast burritos are now just a shadow basking in her glory. Thank you so much for your exceptional food and customer service. I will be back, to fuel my new addiction to lorenas. And have already made this new find a regular stop before assuming my daily activities. Nothing better than someone that cares about their services and assembles all of their food from scratch. Delicious seasoning and marinades, great preparation, all around amazing tacos. Must try!!!

Lorena is a fantastic chef, those are some of the best flavors I've had in the Valley. Even if the meat wasn't my favorite, the sauces were delicious.

At first glance it looks like there wasn't that much meat on the tacos. However, after my first bite, I realized there was so much flavor from the fillings that you needed a little extra tortilla, the ratio turned out to be great.

The chorizo was very good. Carnitas was good too. The Al Pastor is fantastic. And even though the cuts of Chicharrón weren't my favorites, the chili Verde sauce on it was great. The last was the chicken adobo, which again, it had very good sauce, and a good chicken, just not my favorite type of taco. It's very clear that they take a lot of time in preparation, and a lot of pride in putting them together.

All the tacos were on two perfectly grilled tortillas and topped with cilantro and onions, as well as a cucumber with tajin and a few limes. There's red and green salsa's on the table. The outside seating was covered and plentiful.

This one is definitely worth trying out and I will be back to try many of the other...
