Merri-Men Drive In (CARRY OUT ONLY) (WE LOWERED OUR PRICES FOR NEW YEAR! NEW MENU) — Restaurant in Garden City

Today I went in with my boyfriend to get 8 coneys, chicken tenders and fries. The nice girl took my order, but she was all alone and she told us 15. Me and my boyfriend thought the cook was on break out in the back; mind you we order at 6:23pm, the cook pulls up to the restaurant while we are waiting in the car waiting for our food that we thought was being cooked. Me and my boyfriend get out of the car and go inside. Nothing was said until we got our food and was headed out the door “sorry for that.” Also because they don’t have any coney boxes which I understand you run outta stuff instead of putting them in a huge take out box they stuffed the coneys in a small fry box (which I wish I could include a picture). Like as a food establishment you should show professionalism and your employees should too. The girl that took our order should have said “my cook stepped out for a second and I can take your order he will just be right back,” not take our order and not say anything, but it wasn’t her fault he left and as for the cook you shouldn’t have one employee that only works on the front end alone in the store and still taking orders, but no good is being cooked. Order food and clearly I can tell they just threw it together. Hot dog bun was not fresh for my coney dogs and chilli cheese fries was not how they should be from a coney island. They clearly don't use Kraft cheese or even velveeta cheese. The cheese taste like nacho cheese out the can and the cheese and chilli was in one section of my fries. Hot dog bun came apart before I even could take one bite and bread was not fresh and there was no ketchup on the coney dogs plus stale non fresh hot dog bun. Will never go there again. This is my second time getting food from them and the last time because they either don't know what there doing or don't care how they serve and how the food taste. The only reason I didn't take the food back to them is because were in a pandemic and I don't wont to keep going to no one restaurant. Basically I wasted money on subpar food so never again there not worth my hard earned money just because I live close to this...

Everyone is nice but the owner stays there 6 days a week, sleeps in his car at times of day there's no customers, and tells waitresses working there to wake him because he is the only person he wants cooking food.

Because he runs the restaurant while constantly sleep deprived he gets sloppy with cleanliness. I've seen pancakes with burnt residue from the pan on it and napkins that wrap up the silverware have crusted food on them, as if whoever wrapped them had messy hands.

Then on March 1 Hometown Life published "Eight eating establishments in Garden City cited for most serious violations in January" reviewing a county health inspection report charging the Merriman Drive In with something like 9 major offenses, ranging from slime in the ice machine to packages of pork laying on the floor for extended periods--all were repeat offenses mind you.
