If you haven’t checked this place out yet, why not?? Foods delicious, staff is very kind and friendly and the atmosphere is so homey and cozy that I actually LIKED being in there.
No high modernization, cold “millennial beige here! Not only is the decor warm and inviting, so are the staff. I even witnessed the staff actually being kind to each other which, I didn’t realize until just now, is a very rare occurrence!
When you walk in you feel like you’re going to your friends mom’s house, and there’s warm food, plenty of space and good vibes.
Now for the details:
What I ordered - a breakfast burrito, a breakfast scramble/hash, and a cinnamon roll all to go. For these 3 items it was about $27 which isn’t bad at all considering most places now are charging upwards of $20 a pop for eggs and bacon.
The burrito was good, I would consider it the 4/5 star item here, only because the ratio was slightly off. There were a lot more hashbrowns than everything else which made it a bit too greasy, the tortilla was great, the salsa was great and everything tasted great, it was just a proportion issue.
The breakfast hash - 5/5 my husband LOVED it. I came home with it to surprise him for lunch but unfortunately he had already eaten by the time I got home. Even still he said it was “so good he HAD to eat it”. He even liked the biscuits and gravy which is WILD because he has never liked biscuits and gravy a day in his life! I tried a bite of everything and it was delicious. Perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked, and I liked their biscuit a lot.
The cinnamon roll - 5/5 so soft, not too heavy, just the right amount of cinnamon and I really loved the touch of melted butter along with the icing on top. It gave it this sweet, salty beautiful depth of flavor that you don’t usually find in a cinnamon roll. If you don’t get one of these while you’re here - you’re missing out!
Overall this was a great experience. Next time I will definitely be dining in to enjoy more of the friendly service and comforting atmosphere. I’d definitely like to shout out the staff for what I mentioned above, not only did you guys cook and serve an amazing product - it was SO NICE to be in a restaurant where the workers actually liked each other. Too often it seems like everyone is irritated by their coworkers so this was very refreshing.
Thanks for the food and the experience guys, I will...

Located in the Franklin Business Park (164 S. Cole Rd.), The Chef’s Hut is one of Boise’s best kept secrets. It is an old fashion diner that has been around since 1974. Open Tuesday through Sunday from 7 AM to 2 PM, they are best known for their breakfasts.
The Chef’s Hut is also known for their Cinnamon Rolls. These photos are from a weekday visit around 1:15 PM. They had just taken their second batch of cinnamon rolls out of the oven. You can order trays of them for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
I’m a big fan of their lunches. My go to is usually the Patty Melt with fries ($9.99). If I’m eating there, I get it with fresh cut fries, but when I ordered to go, I was encouraged to get their regular fries or beer battered onion ring. I went with onion rings and a side of Fry sauce. Both were excellent! Usually the patty melt comes on a darker rye bread, which I prefer, and is grilled a bit longer. I got a Cinnamon Roll $2.99) to go too, which I had for breakfast the next morning. It was excellent! I only wish it had raisins in it. These photos are from a visit on 8/18/21.
One of the things that I love about this place is that it makes you feel like you’ve stepped back into time. There’s nothing fancy about it, but it feels like someplace you always known. It’s a kind of place where the cook will make Mickey Mouse shaped pancakes for your children. It’s the only local place I know that has Spam on the menu. They make many items from scratch. They have hand battered fish and chips on Fridays.
The owner is a big animal lover, who has Corgis. During warm weather, there is a dog friendly patio outside where you can dine with your four-legged family members.
Other menu items I have tried and enjoyed are: The Hut Skillet Chili Burger BLT Reuben Finger Steak Basket Fish & Chips
One of the items I haven’t tried but that I’ve heard a lot of great things about is their Pesto Turkey Melt.
Highly...

We, my wife and I, ordered a cinnamon roll to start as it was at the top of the menu. The wife ordered the Pork chops and eggs, while I ordered the "Gutbuster".
We will start with the cinnamon roll as it comes out first if ordered. It was piping hot and came with a serving of butter on top which began to melt instantly. The cinnamon roll was the perfect balance, not over sweet, the cinnamon was there but not overpowering. The glaze on top made it perfect with the melted butter! No nutts or raisins (Thank you!).
Onto the main event: The "Gutbuster". It was perfect and lived up to it's name. The burrito could barely close and was at least as big as the plate ( about 12") covered in cheese. It normally comes with country gravy, but as I don't care for gravy on my burrito I gave it to my wife. The meat was fantastic and was well flavored, having ham, bacon, and sausage. The eggs tasted as if they were done "dirty", as my grandfather would say, and brought me back to childhood. Added a bit of sour cream to the mix and it was fantastic. Needless to say I did not finish. (Photos attached)
The pork chops and eggs were delicious as well. The pork was moist, slightly breaded and fried. The hash browns were done to perfection along with the English muffin. The gravy that I had passed on to my wife was fantastic. Not overly spicy but very flavorful.
The staff was fantastic and kept us well looked after. I cannot praise the place enough. The prices were also very reasonable. My wife and I...
