If you're wanting quick steak that's worth the cost, I would not recommend coming to this place. Outback would be better. I understand Longhorn isn't the highest quality of steakhouses available around here. But for someone like me and my family of four who can't afford outrageously good steak, one of the chains like Longhorn or outback are our only options, and this place we won't bother going to again. Here's the details: -went on a Saturday night at 7:30. Joined the wait-list online so when we got there, we only waited about 15 minutes. -only good tasting part of the whole meal was the bread at the beginning and my raspberry lemonade drink. -our waitress, Jennie, was fine, not overly friendly but for a semi-busy Saturday night, she did her job well. -the Texas tonion app was incredibly salty, though their zesty sauce on the side was good. -husband got a Caesar side salad (costs $1.49 more for this type I guess) and I got the house salad with ranch. Both came swimming in dressing so I advise you ask for the dressing on the side so you can control how much is poured on. Lettuce was a little sad, as well. -my filet was technically cooked right in color to pass for medium well, yet was very, very dry. The only flavor it had was an overwhelming amount of pepper. The mashed potatoes on the plate were swimming in butter, with a pool of butter on top, to the point that I scooped them onto the little bread plate so they wouldn't continue to soak. They had no flavor beyond straight butter. My steamed asparagus was crisp, but also flavorless beyond just the butter it was swimming in. They offer a mushroom topping as an extra cost that I ordered, but they forgot it. So a different waitress came back with some in a bowl on the side, which meant no juices from the mushrooms soaked into the dry steak when it was cooked. What's the point then? The mushrooms tasted burnt and again, like butter. No other flavor. My pictures don't do it justice to see how deep the puddle of butter was, or how wet the potatoes were with butter. This is the first time I haven't wanted to take home any of my leftovers. I rate it 1/5 stars. -my daughter ordered the LH burger and my son ordered the kids meal cheese burger with adding bacon and pickles (they forgot the pickles). Might as well save some money and just get the kids meal burger with a few add ons because it was the same exact size as the LC burger, cooked the same. Both burgers were overcooked and dry and neither kid wanted to finish them. My daughters side mashed potatoes were just like mine, swimming in butter, but my son said the fries were good. She rated hers 1/5 stars, he gave his a 3/5. -my husband ordered the $30 20oz Outlaw Ribeye, medium. His had a little more flavor than mine (not over seasoned with pepper) but he said "I'm glad I ordered it medium because that gave it some tenderness and juice. If I had gotten medium well like I originally wanted, it would not have been good." He rated it 2/5 stars.
Our final bill before tip was $103 and that's about 95 dollars more than it was worth. Atmosphere was cramped and loud, and the floors were messy. So yeah, I recommend skipping this...
Read moreLonghorn Steakhouse in Boise is a casual dining restaurant that serves steak, chicken, and seafood. It is owned by Darden Restaurants, Inc., which owns and operates a number of other popular restaurants, including their recent acquisition, Ruth’s Chris Steak House.
I have visited Longhorn Steakhouse four times. The first two visits were for lunch. The first time, I ordered a Burger with a side of French Onion soup. The second time, I ordered a Crispy Buttermilk Chicken sandwich with French fries. Both times, the food was very good and well priced. The service and ambience were excellent! The third time, I did a take out order of French Onion soup and a small Caesar salad. The soup tasted good, but I don’t recommend getting French onion to go. I didn’t care for their version of a Caesar salad.
These photos are from my fourth visit, a dinner with KM:
We started by sharing an appetizer of Texas Tonion ($8.99) - Crispy battered onion petals, served with zesty dip. It was excellent!
We both French Onion soup ($5.49). KM’s French Onion soup was excellent, but mine wasn’t very flavorful. I brought this to our servers attention. She returned my soup to the kitchen and brought out another one. The second time around, it was great!
We both ordered 20 oz. Outlaw Ribeye steaks ($30.29) with a side and salad. We both ordered Loaded Idaho Baked Potatoes as our side, and Mixed Green Salads with Blue Cheese dressing. Both of our steaks were cooked to perfection. They were delicious! We had to request a little extra butter and sour cream for our baked potatoes, which our server brought us at no extra charge. They were very good. The salads were good. As always, the service and ambience were excellent!
Longhorn Steakhouse’s signature seasoning is a salt-based mix called “Prarie Dust”, which they use on a lot of menu items. It is what your server is referring to when he/she tells you “We are known for our bold flavors.” The first time I visited, my hamburger was very salty, as was my friend’s steak. That’s when I found out about Prarie Dust. Ever since then, I have requested that they use very little Prarie Dust and/or give it to me on the side. Since then, the food has been perfectly seasoned. That is what we requested when ordering our ribeye steaks.
If you’re looking for a well priced steak house with nice ambience, great food and service, be sure to put Longhorn Steakhouse on your list.

Read moreWe’ve been going to longhorn steakhouse since opening day. We instantly fell in love. We’ve been there at least twice every year and it’s always the best! My husband always gets the steak, any kind he’s not picky— and it’s steak! Cmon! I always get the ribs! I unfortunately didn’t get there appetizer a firecracker shrimp, but I got something new! It’s a very mild spicy chicken dish (pregnancy brain has made me forget the name I apologize) and it was only $6 for a bowl of it. Firstly, the chicken was grazed in a nice sauce, and topped with some very fresh green onion. And then they had a spicy sauce on the side that appeared to be the same sauce that it was glazed in, I could be wrong though. It wasn’t hot in the sense I needed a drink just a tad spicy! Which is what I love in my pregnancy! The most amazing thing that astounded me with this dish was that the chicken looked crispy on the outside but it was the most tender I have ever tasted. You CANNOT go wrong with this appetizer. I encourage everyone to try it! My ribs are always cooked perfectly. They’re very tender, they have a ton of meat on them, and it doesn’t take long. Every time me and my husband come to the restaurant and we order, the food gets our table then under 15 minutes. And that’s amazing considering they’re so popular and always booked. The staff there is ALWAYS polite, friendly and just truly wonderful people. We joke with them and have a good time! My husbands steak is ALWAYS cooked to perfection- rare. It’s tender, juicy and wonderful! The Mac and cheese dish on the side is extra cheesy with bacon, and I mean who doesn’t like bacon right? So try it! And I get there AMAZING Brussels sprouts! I don’t know what makes them so crispy and so juicy at the same time, but I’m loving it. I tried them for the first time a year ago, and I’m hooked. Ever since I got pregnant it’s all I can think about! The Brussels sprouts are truly superb. They’re crispy on the outside and a pop of flavor once you bite. And there’s crunchy skin that falls off as it cooks that they throw in the bowl and it’s covered in a special sauce— you CANNOT go wrong with these sprouts! Aside from food the place is very well maintained, they’re very good at sanitizing and the bathrooms are always clean! The staff again— truly efficient and wonderful. This place is truly amazing and a fine date...
