Wam’s Tropical Sno — Restaurant in Garden City

This place used to be so good, but we stopped in today and waited an hour to get our two snow cones. It’s all high school kids working, and management only has two or three working at a time which results in them getting super far behind. At least four different people went up to the window while we were there to ask about their orders because they were taking so long. Several people even left without their snow cones and just told them to keep their money. There was about a 3-5 minute wait between them giving out each snow cone. Not each order, but each individual snow cone. At one point I heard a girl yell from inside and she said several cuss words with the window open and customers standing right outside. They also need to take names for orders instead of calling out flavors because a lady that had only been there for a few minutes walked up and grabbed a little boy’s blue raspberry snow cone when she still had several families in front of hers including mine. So we finally got our snow cones and there was no syrup on them. My snow cone was supposed to be brown and was completely white. I had to dump the whole top off to find any flavoring, but there was hardly any in the bottom either. Beyond that, my snow cone might as well have been whole ice cubes. The chunks were massive and it hurt my teeth to even eat it. Overall this was a total waste of my time and money. I always love coming here. They have the best snow cones ever. The ice is shaved so fine that it really tastes like you grabbed a handful of snow. It's not completely soft in the same way as real snow, but it's closer than the other snow cone places. Plus, it lasts much longer than other snow cones, so I don't have to rush to finish mine. (But granted, if you're outside in the heat, it will melt fast.) The options for flavors are beyond substantial. They also are priced great. You can add a second flavor for free while other places make you pay nearly double the price of the original cone. The employees are always nice. They tend to be high schoolers, but i haven't had a rude one yet, and they always seem accomdating. One child accidentally dropped their sno cone right after getting it, and they gave him a new one. It's just a friendly place overall, which I greatly appreciate. To top matters off, they give you a discount if you get just a plain cup of ice. I love Wam's! We have been going every summer for years, now they're open year round I believe, and they have the best and softest shaved ice! And so many flavors!
