Banh Mi Che Cali — Restaurant in Garden Grove

The food isn’t bad, and will satisfy your craving for banh mi and a variety of snacks at cheap prices . But the poor service, poor covid safety, and long wait is enough to stop me from coming back (at least to this location). Would recommend the cleaner THH restaurant chain instead.

Food: Grilled pork Banh mi was tasty with generous portion of meat. The egg rolls were nicely fried, and peppery. Also got some chicken pate chaud at really cheap prices. Good but a bit salty, and could use more meat. They sell their baguettes too which is nice to bring home to snack on.

Downsides: Covid measures are not being enforced well here. The sign says no more than 10 customers inside and there were definitely at least 30 customers crammed inside when I got there. -Workers are eating inside maskless on lunch breaks. Also the workers are inside yelling a lot so that can’t be great even with masks. service is below average. While I was trying to order the cashier was having an entire side conversation with another customer and interrupted me 4x to the point I was laughing in disbelief. Then got impatient with us as we ordered with the language barrier. wait times are really long when there’s a line. We waited in line for 10min, then another 20min for food. Not the “quick” snack we thought...

Banh mi o day cung ngon, nhung, nhung nguoi ban' hang nen vui ve khi phuc vu cho khach hang, va than thien hon chut. Them mot van de nua, la nguoi quan ly o day khong lam nhiem vu tot, de cho nhung nguoi homeless vo dung' o trong tiem, xin tien, tinh trang nay khong the chap nhan duoc. Co lan thay nguoi xin tien dung o trong tiem, de y khach hang nao moi lay tien thoi', va xin lien, khong duoc nhu vay. Quan ly tiem banh mi nay nen lam gi de bao ve khach hang, khong co tinh trang nay xay ra nua. I like the Sandwiches here, but the customer service people are not very friendly, I would like to see that improved. Onto another issue, the homeless have the tendency to be overly aggressive at this shop, I have observed a homeless person stood at the doorway inside the shop, asking for hand out, this is not acceptable. The problem lies solely on the management team at this shop, they need to protect the customer from issues...

I am totally addicted to this place. They have fresh baked items everyday. The earlier you go the better and fresher. It seems no matter what time I go, there is a line, but it is well worth the wait. The offer baguettes, pho, chicken wings, bahn mi sandwiches (I highly recommend with the veggies INSIDE for the full experience of this glorious sandwich. They also have some desserts I haven't tried yet and I'm still exploring all they have to offer.

When you go, you have to get the BOBA milk, green, or thai tea. The also offer more than just boba to add to your drinks. Just get in there and try it. Oh and did I mention the teas are BOGO FREE? $3.00 for the regular size, $3.50 for the large. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra $.50 for the large because with the size of the straws to suck up the BOBAs, the tea will be gone...
