Bates Fish Market — Restaurant in Gardena

I normally enjoy my food here. It's been awhile since I've been, but this time, not so much. I was first questioned about what I wanted to order. Being told that it was not enough, when ordering my fish by the pound. I desired to order a quarter pound of one fish, a half pound of another and some shrimp. Second, upon picking up my order, I was over charged, and had to tell him that it's was so. Each time from the phone to the pickup, the same man (an older man) basically stopped servicing me and had someone else serve me. Third, my food and my niece's food was over cooked. My Filet of sole was so hard and dry completely over done. My niece is filet of sole and her shrimps were hard and dried out, completely over cooked. We spent and wasted almost $50. I have gone to Baets for over 29 years it's a good place to go Lisa no more clothes and the food is excellent keep it up the good work...will on 8/8/17 well me and my mom we went to Baets and if you go to Baets just now if you have A phone order you get your stuff faster I called but they got put me on hold about time I looked up because my mom was driving we was three blocks away from Baets I walked in a place my order the food was hot hot and no complaints separate one if you have Yelp it probably go more smoother but everybody that came in was supposed to have a phone order it took a while for the chicken wings to get done my mother had no complaints about the chicken point she say it was done to the bone good is good and flavorful well I'm happy I will...

I was completely disappointed... it's been well over 7yrs since I've been to Bates, the fish market that I usually go to closed for the night so I remembered Bates was near. Big mistake! I ordered fried shrimp and a side (hushpuppies) once I get there the guy hands me an order of grilled shrimp, ok I'll take it (1 cause I was ready to drive home, 2 grilled is always better than fried (weight wise) but in the back of my mind I really wanted fried food. The young man offered a free drink and no charge for the grilled shrimp ($1.00 for grilled) the jumbo shrimp looked more like medium and for the price of $14.00 I only received 10 shrimp.
