Rascal's Teriyaki Grill — Restaurant in Gardena

I have been a Rascal's fan for decades and even used to bring friends here, but I'm so disappointed by what's happened at this location.

First, the quality of their Chinese Chicken Salad has really declined. They seem to be be cutting the amount of chicken and other things in it, while expanding the amount of cheap lettuce to act as a filler. At the same time they've raised their prices considerably over the last few years. I understand that costs go up, but it barely seems like a chicken salad anymore. The cost isn't worth it.

Secondly, the restaurant is poorly maintained, and has been for quite a while now. I think they only wipe down the tables once per day, because for the last 2 years every time we go in they are dirty and sticky no matter which ones we try. Sometimes the seats are too. Also a few of the tables are so wobbly that your drinks spill out if you bump it. Additionally, they repair the upholstery on the seats with duct tape, and have been for a long time. The tape gets worn and sticks to your clothes and...

Off night maybe? Be warned, parking during peak hours here is tough, so you may have to park outside the lot and walk. When I arrived, a long line snaked out - apparently it gets REALLY busy here. Or, it could have been the staff who charged the person in front of me a different price on my meal combo than he did me. As chaos ensued, the staff began to question each other in front of me and other patrons. Not professional.

The bathroom was dirty, dim, and just not a good experience. One tiny sink in the middle of a massive area? What? Add all the scratched in graffiti...not ideal.

We couldn't tell if the chicken was burned, or if that was the "smokey" flavour of the sauce. Either way, not an appetizing flavour. At least you know the chicken is cooked recently. Judging by the couple of pieces of gristle we had to spit out while eating it, it must be hand cut.

Hopefully this was a one off experience, and they were just having a bad night. I'll wait a while and give it a shot again, hopefully when they've sorted some of...

WoW! What can I say...been going here since the 90's the old location...WHAT HAPPENED Wayne or Josh?? It just keep getting worse when in comes to the serving...we know everything went up but...damn! The portion of the Chicken has gotten so bad that you can now actually count the pieces! We ordered last week to see maybe it was a different cook then came again few days ago and wow...portion of the chicken and salad got small for a higher price too...it looks like they went backwards...pay more get smaller...kind of sad...last time we are going there after years of supporting...just can't justify what we are getting for the price....please Wayne or Josh...increase the weight since you guy's claim that you guy's weigh the chicken now...atleast make your customer feel satisfied for the high price we pay...I miss the good o'l days...we used tell people to go to your restaurant when the serving was decent...not this time!
