I recently had the pleasure of dining at Woodlands South Indian Vegetarian Restaurant in Garfield, NJ, and I have to say, I was thoroughly impressed. The restaurant boasts an extensive menu of authentic South Indian cuisine, all of which is vegetarian and incredibly delicious.
From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm, friendly service and a cozy, inviting atmosphere. The décor was simple but elegant, with beautiful Indian artwork adorning the walls. I was quickly seated and presented with the menu, which offered a wide range of options, from dosas and uttapams to curries and biryanis.
I decided to start with the medu vadas, which were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and served with coconut chutney and sambar. The vadas were perfectly spiced and the chutney and sambar complemented them well. For my main course, I chose the rava masala dosa, which was a thin, crispy crepe made with semolina and stuffed with a spicy potato filling. It was served with sambar, coconut chutney, and tomato onion chutney, which added a burst of flavor to every bite.
All of the dishes were served with piping hot, freshly made sambar and chutneys, and I found myself savoring every bite. The portions were generous, and I was pleasantly surprised by the affordable prices.
In addition to the delicious food, the service was impeccable. Our server was friendly and attentive, making sure that we were happy with our meal and checking in on us frequently. I felt truly cared for as a customer, and I appreciated the personalized attention.
Overall, I would highly recommend Woodlands South Indian Vegetarian Restaurant to anyone looking for authentic, delicious South Indian cuisine in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The food, service, and atmosphere are all top-notch, and I can't wait to go back and try more...

Read moreThe owner feigned innocence to the facts I had stated. For any new restaurant to do better, the owner MUST be on the floor to meet with every patron and ask if anything needed improvement. This did not happen. I hold no punches and I do not sugar-coat. If the owner gets carried away by the 'positive' comments others have given, he/she should reflect on himself/herself to determine if those are justified. Otherwise, survival will become difficult. This is a fast-food place, but the prices are of a 3-star restaurant. They serve on disposable wares; there is no finesse on the whole.
The owner showed a sign of weakness in the view 'a Kannadiga supporting another Kannadiga'. I will support ANYONE who does a good job, be it a Punjabi, be it a Gujarati, be it a Spanish. Let's not get into this...
