Captain D's — Restaurant in Garland

We've been waiting for a decent fast food seafood place for a while here in S. Garland. Yes, we have LJS but their greasy food and smelly outdated lobby is pretty gross.

We tried the $5 deals: 12pc shrimp and southern fish with slaw, fries, okra, & corn on the cob. Take out, eaten at home, 1.4 miles away.

Very little grease...thank goodness! The shrimp was way over cooked and rubbery, they need to adjust their timing and/or temp. The southern fish was great, we gobbled every last piece.

My husband loved the slaw but said the fries were already cold and not good. He didn't even save a bite of slaw for me to try. :(

I liked the okra, could be crispier though. The corn on the cob was a mess. Love the heavy duty stick, but the to-go container isn't an eat in container..very weird to me. There were not so obvious holes in it so butter and liquid spilled into my lap.

My husband had to specifically request sauces but when asked they loaded us up. Super friendly staff and very clean lobby. The cashier even opened the containers to ensure that the order was correct.

I think with time and a few adjustments with cooking times this place could be a regular for us when not cooking at home. We especially love the less...

After a long day at work I wanted a fresh hot meal. I went here this evening just after 7pm. Inside was full and drive thru was full. Very busy. My food was absolutely terrible. I spent $17.29 and threw most of it away. I ordered grilled salmon with green beans and a corn on the cob plus I added 5 butterfly shrimp. I was eating in the car. Looked in the bag and they forgot my shrimp. Went back in and she gave them to me. Got back to the car and they only gave me 4 and they were cold and stale. Went back and she gave me 2 more. They were hot and fresh. My salmon was hot. Rice was hard as a rock. Instead of green beans I got a container full of large grisly pieces of meat. It looked like they scraped the bottom of the pan. I had a few pieces of cold green beans. The corn on the cob was ice cold and had turned a dark color. My breadstick was cold. Everything except the salmon was old and the bottom of the barrel. I ate the salmon and threw the rest away. Almost $20 wasted. You guys should be ashamed to serve this...

My wife and I had lunch here today. Having been a restaurant manager for many years I am usually disappointed with casual dining experiences these days.

Today was a major exception. The young lady taking our order, I believe her name is Aramia, was incredible. She quickly pointed out the Specials and the best way to place my order so I got all specific items I wanted in the most cost effective way. Before long she arrived at our table with our food. I observed that on her way back to the counter. She dropped off another diners order. Picked up empty trays from another table, answered another customers question and was assisting a new customer placing their order. All in what seemed like seconds.

Did I mention the food was delicious? I should add this was the first time I ever sought out a fast food worker to leave a tip. Normally it annoys me when fast food establishes suggest a tip for simply taking an order at a counter.

Very friendly, but in a very natural way. Nothing phony about it.
