Duc Huong Gio Cha — Restaurant in Garland

This place has some BOMB cha lua. For you non-Viet folks, that's vietnamese pork - kind of like our version of ham. Put it in banh mi (bread). Eat it with banh cuon (rice rolls). Roll it into your spring rolls. Eat it with rice or vermicelli. Put it in your noodle soups! Heck, you can even eat it alone - it's that good. This stuff is awesome. This place has good quality cha lua and is cheaper than it's competitor across the street. The fam always stocks up on them and we store them in the freezer. Cash only shop that sells differnt types cha (Vietnamese sausage) fried, steam, raw, regular, with peppercorns, etc. They also sell Bánh Tet, Banh Chung, thit ruoc (dried shredded pork), Ben chua (pickled ham), traditional Vietnamese snacks, candies, and Che (dessert pudding). They mainly sell cha though. The rest of the items have changed around.

They also usually have Bánh giầy/bánh dày (chewy rice cake sandwich with a piece of cha in the middle), but they sell out of those often. Banh day is one of my childhood favorite snack. It’s like a savory Vietnamese mochi...

Not so friendly service. Besides Cash only. I forgot to call first to find out. I drove an hour to just bought few items because not enough cash or ATM in store ( I planned to buy a lot to make my trip worth )
