What I Ordered: Fried Shrimp with Cheese Crab Meat with Fish Belly Soup Braised Bean Curd with Vegetables (Sea Cucumber with Abalone: cancelled - The owner failed to read the list of what I ordered sent to him days ago and so I learned they do not have sea cucumber and only have enough abalone for one table. I ended up with a dish of stir fry abalone with vegetables for my table and the other table had stir fry squid in kung pow sauce. Clams in Black Bean Garlic Sauce Orange Beef Young Chow Fried Rice Chef's recommendation: Steamed Chicken in a savory soy sauce *Sweet treat from the owner: The owner treated us with fried sesame glutinous balls and some sweet watermelon.
It's been years since I last came here. The son of the original owner took over the business.
What I recommend: Friend shrimp with cheese Orange beef Steamed Chicken in savory sauce Clams in Black Bean Sauce
Notes about the other cuisines: The crab soup here is by far the most liquidy (lổng) loose crab soup I have tasted.
Braised tofu with vegetables in white sauce just lacks flavor for me compared to the same dish offered at other Chinese restaurants I have tried.
The abalone was somewhat chewy.
The Young Chow Fried Rice I used to love here has changed. The smell, taste, and flavor of the rice has changed a lot. The rice is just too dry from what I used to get often.
The Kung Pow sauce with the squid did not impress me. I find the Kung Pow version at Zhang's Kitchen to be addicting and the best version I have tasted, with the robust tangy citrusy spicy flavor I do not get here from My Canh.
For some reason, the stir fry dishes today makes me feel like the restaurant ran out of...
Read moreAmazing hospitality but the food was just decent. Depending on what you get, the food will be from “not bad” to “hmmm this is pretty good”. There is one item that I personally don’t like and it’s the beef flat noodle. For my taste buds, I taste nothing when eating the noodles. Only when I bite into the beef or vegetables do I get a slight hint of any flavor. The dish is so bland for me that even the white rice being broken down into simple sugars from my saliva had more taste than the noodles and gravy. You can pour in a lot of salt to fix that though. And the best part of eating here is the complimentary fried sesame balls at the end for dessert. Not sure if you get it every time but when you do get it, it is such an amazing closer to your meal. It isn’t too sweet but just sweet enough to satisfy and clean up my taste buds. The sesame ball is crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside. Prices are also pretty good. Meal for 6 is around 60...
Read moreI have been coming to this restaurant now for over 5 years or more. I can honestly tell you that they are consistent. Consistent flavors of the food and freshness. Sincerely, one of our favorite spots for some delicious comfort food. From the warmth and creamy flavor of the crab meat egg drop soup, to the flavor full taste in the combination lo mein , the sweetness and tangy flavor in the orange chicken, and savory flavor of the beef and broccoli. You will not go wrong with these dishes. There is so much more on the menu to explore, but these are some of our favorites. The dishes are great size to share with family or a group of friends.
The service is great, since we visit regularly, the waitresses always remember us and know we love to drink up pitchers or their sweet tea, and always remember I like to put in lemon in my soup and bring us lemons without even asking. Have an open mind, try them out, you will not be...
