I ate at this place on July 13th. Arrived at about 8:45 PM. Staff was friendly, seating was available quickly....after that....food was disgusting. Everything was dry, hard...like it had been sitting for a long time. Even the sushi was terrible, soggy on the bottom from sitting in a sauce, to hard on the edges like it was there for a awhile. Soups had a film on them, like they also have been sitting, but the house special soup was ok,. ... Most of the food was practically inedible, hard, old and twice I asked if empty trays were getting replenished. What was replenished was ok, but when eating at a buffet, you expect a wide variety, which this place was lacking. For the price, there are several other locations around Raleigh where the food quality is much better. BTW.... ice cream machine was broken, and the guest 2 tables away asked when it would be fixed, complaining it had been broken for some time. And let's review the sign...it says jumbo buffet, when in reality, it should be medium size buffet. There are 2 island of hot food, one island with cold foods and fruits, and a separate section for hibachi and sushi. This was in no way a jumbo buffet. While it did have a fair sized selection, it should not be called jumbo by any means. My review of 2 stars is for the staff, my server was very friendly, unfortunately the food...
Read moreMe and my husband came here last week. I'll be honest the low star rating had us both a bit concerned; typically I never bother with anything that is below 4 stars, however I know that people also have a habit of being more eager to leave a negative review than a positive one. So, I talked him into taking us there and holy cow were we impressed! The buffet is HUGE. Full of so many different things to eat, and everything we sampled was perfection, from flavor to freshness. The atmosphere, while pretty simple, is quiet and clean. All of the chairs and tables are spaced out well, so you don't feel caged in, the staff pretty polite and efficient and the price was quite fair for what you get. Seriously they were serving steamed clams, cheese covered mussels, crab and a lot of other things one does not typically see at these sorts of buffets, at least the ones I'm used to. They even served desserts in their own separate buffet! And spoiler, those were great too!
Frankly I don't know what the other people were complaining about. This place gave me exactly what I expect (and want) from a chinese buffet: Plentiful and varied amounts of freshly cooked, delicious asian-themed food, a pleasant and clean atmosphere, polite staff and a fair price.
We both loved it and we plan to come again. I highly recommend...
Read moreThis place takes a title that has been held since 2009. Worst Buffet EVER.
Visited at 8pm and they close at 10:30pm. Food was stale and you could tell where some items were dried out such as butter beans and corn. They had the the standard assortment of Chinese Buffet food items but all were luke warm and most looked unappetizing. Pork fried rice was as tasteless as regular rice, crab rangoons were missing filling and stale, spring rolls and egg rolls were damp in the center and hard on the ends, suger biscuits were stale as well. The various seafood items were clearly dried out.
They also advertise sushi and hibachi which were unmanned. They had three pieces of sushi out which were looked dried out, I got one and it was warm. Their hibachi food also looked dried out.
I understand that there were fewer people in the restaurant and it isn't feasible to charge $8.99 for a buffet and constantly throw out huge portion of food to the buffet which will go to waste but this certainly not the way to do things.
If you want a Chinese Buffet spend the extra 20 minutes to go down Capital Blvd and go to Hibachi Grill Supreme Buffet. Not that any chinese buffet if fine dining but at least there you will get fresher...
