We went to Yemen Kitchen for the first time this past weekend. While the food we had was good service was subpar. Positives were that our party of 9 was served soup/broth, 2 plates of salads, and spicy salsa immediately and our order for food was taken right away. Negatives are that their fries are horrible (you could full well taste onions in them implying they aren't using a different fryer) and they don't keep ketchup so take your own packs, they never once asked what we wanted for drinks and didn't proactively bring out water for everyone in the beginning, they didn't care to ask if we would like extra plates (this is usually implied for larger groups) and most annoying of all, they didn't communicate with us that one of things we ordered wasn't available and decided its substitute themselves.

We ordered 2 plates of chicken mandi , mixed grill plate for 3, and fries for younger ones in the group. Chicken mandi plates came right away followed by fries. A little while later our server came out with a plate of mixed veggies saying they didn't have mixed grill so they substituted. Our server never came earlier to communicate this. We sent this back ordering some other things off the menu.

In short, food that is available is good and in generous portions but if you decide to eat here, take it upon yourselves to ask for water/or whichever drinks you'd like in the beginning as well as if you'd like extra plates to share and be sure to check availability as you're ordering and explicitly mention you don't want them to decide on...

So went there for dinner with 2 of my friends and was seated almost immediately. That was good. Then everything went bad. No menus were given. They did give free soup at the start, but the waitress didn't say what was in the soup when she served it, didn't know what was in the soup (I think it was lamb), and then didn't comeback until the end. Then another waiter came and asked what we would like to order and then noticed we didn't have menus. He came back with menus and then a little later with a salad. Then no one came for at least 20mins to take our order (which would be fine, IF THE MENU WASN'T ALL OF MAX 15 ITEMS). We all ordered the same thing but 1 person's food came at least 10mins after 2 of ours came. BUT THE FOOD WAS NOT WORTH ALL THE WAITING OR THE COST. The most bland chicken I have ever had. Do not let the color of the chicken fool you, I'm not even sure that salt was used. The rice was amazing. I would eat the rice only as a dish if it was an option. But the chicken Mandi was so bland. It's like they just used food dye on it and threw it in a Crock-Pot or something. They tried to redeem themselves at the end by attempting to give us 1 free Chicken Mandi to go but we asked for 1 to be taken off the menu bc we did not want another one. They also have a nice lemon-lime mint slushie that I recommend. But the prices were not worth it and the service was horrible. Sat in a booth and the seats had leftover rice all over them. The table wasn't very clean as well. The server was rude. They serve you a salad on the house and it was literally just lettuce and some tomatoes with no dressing or oil or vinegar. I ordered the chicken haneed and my sibling ordered the chicken mandi. When the food came out, I was a tad bit disappointed with the presentation. Both dishes were very much lacking in flavor. The food was honestly somewhat bland. Still ate my meal because I was hungry. Realized halfway through that the other tables were being served salad, bread, and soup on the house. Why did we only get the salad? Upon checkout, the receipt stated that I had ordered the grilled chicken and not the chicken haneed. I didn't know any better and thought I was eating haneed the whole time. Either the server forgot what I ordered or just gave me the wrong dish. Did I mention that I had to pay more for the dish that I didn't order?
