*update 11/12- I appreciate the reply from the owner and I will give it another chance and update the review . I honestly hate to leave this restaurant a bad review, I really do. The food is amazing and I doordash this to myself at work several times a month. I got several of my coworkers at the hospital hooked on it too. Since I love the food so much, I have hyped my husband and son up about it , and they love Greek food as much as I do. Today I was so excited to have a Saturday off (8/3/24)and be able to take my family to Akropolis to eat. Unfortunately they never go to try the food , and probably never will because i will not set foot back in there ever again. When we got here , there were 3 other couples eating. (One of them was leaving ) . All of the tables with 4 seats were dirty, but no problem-it's small inside , and the only person that seemed to be waiting tables was cleaning a 4 top. There was no indication of whether or not we were to seat ourselves so we grabbed the clean 4 top when it was wiped down. Mind you this has been 5-6 minutes we had to wait and no one has spoken to us. We sit at a table and wait 10-15 more minutes and no one speaks to us. While we are sitting, a table leaves, and another table gets their check. That leaves us, and one other couple who already has their food, in the whole restaurant. When the first mentioned couple leaves, I thought surely the waitress would greet us , get a drink order, say hello, anything. But she walks around us to go clean the table where the couple left. Then walks by us several times without speaking to us . So we decided to leave . I don't know what we did to make the server just completely ignore us but I don't feel like it was deserved and I have never been treated so rudely by a small business. It really was just so blatantly rude that I left in tears , mostly from disappointment. I would love to see Akropolis stay in business for years to come but if this is the kind of employees they have representing them then all I can say is good luck. I would not recommend coming inside. Maybe a to go order, but you might be ignored...
Read moreWOAH, This place is way better than I expected The chef there today (11/9) produced some amazing food. The girl who served us up was so sweet, quick and made sure everything went well. Her and the chef did a fantastic job taking care of all of these tables. I typically do not like American style Greek restaurants but this place changed my mind. They don't have hummus, tabouli etc BUT I stopped caring once I tasted their food. Whatever marinade they use on their meat makes it insanely flavorful (mouth watering) We both got combination platter Which comes with pita, tzatziki sauce, greek salad, crispy fries, gyro meat and then your choice of 1 chicken or 1 tenderloin kabob. My toddler who does not like salad actually ate their salad! I could literally drink that dressing. The fries were crisp and seasoned well. What makes it even better is the price, it was only $10.75. Had I gotten this exact same meal in Raleigh we would have ended up spending $15 per plate. I am very surprised by their prices and it makes me want to go back even more.
I hope you enjoyed my short story of a...
Read moreWhat a different place ! I have lived in Gastonia for 20ish years & have never gone here. The frescos & depictions are pretty and well done. Sitting anywhere in the room makes you feel as though you are kicked back on a terrace overlooking the Aegean. Very nice. I will say that sharing a bathroom with the restaurant next door (la Fuentes) was a surprise.
The Man got the gyro which looked massive. Meat and peppers just over spilling out of the tinfoil. He liked the taste but there wasn’t a side of Taziki like he likes. I got the pork chops with the rice and it worked for me. The pork chops were enough to with the dressing soaked lettuce from my salad piled up on the pita slices to fill me up.
Our cashier was also the server so the poor girl was run off her feet
Overall, it’s a nice place that fits a few and allows for intimate...
