Backyard Burgers — Restaurant in Gastonia

I haven't been to a Backyard Burger in many years and don't remember much about them. I went through the drive thru. Service was relatively quick. Staff was friendly. Fries were flavorful and tasty. I liked the buns. The burgers had that backyard grill taste to them which I liked. Unfortunately, both my wife and I agreed that it tasted like the burgers had been made awhile before, warmed up slightly and served to us. You know when you make more burgers than people, then when people are done, you say- we have more burgers if anyone wants one. That was these burgers. Not very juicy, tasting like someone made them 30 mins to an hour ago and had dried out. The other ingredients tasted good and the grill flavor enhanced things for sure, but it couldn't make up for the not as fresh, juicy burger I would have preferred. The only other negative were that the drinks were relatively small. Big, tall straws, but small cups lol. I would rate this a 3.5, but I'm not rounding up as this is a burger joint and the burgers were not up to snuff. Not sure I will be back. I have been to this location often and never Abad experience until today around 7. When I ordered my burger I asked them to sub the beef for turkey, thinking my order would be correct and it wasn't. I went back through the drive through and only 2 minutes or less had passed. I went back to the drive through and informed the person took my order that i asked for a turkey burger. The person stated I had to pay for a corrected burger since they did not hear me say sub for turkey. I was like fine but it did not make any since. The person then stated I don't have to pay after saying I did. I drove around then I'm guessing the Manager came and took my order again and I told her I will just keep the burger since it seemed I was making a difficult request when I thought it was simple. The Manager did take my card and I paid for an additional burger since they did not hear me say Sub and I always state that when ordering. We purchased about $40 worth of food. Our order was completely wrong. Plain burgers, cold food. We called and explained we lived 30 minutes away and could not drive back that night to replace the order. We were told to save our receipt and return another day so they could fix it. I called today on my way out of work and was told they could remake the food to just go in and see the manager. After driving there I was told they wouldn’t do nothing about it but I could purchase the food again. I will not spend another $40 to replace food that should not have been served.
