Mama's Chicken Kitchen — Restaurant in Gatlinburg

They are not following food and safety standards. I was waiting for my food and witnessed several violations. The kitchen and food prep area are open to the view of the public. First the older woman at the register was a sweetheart and very professional. However there were approximately 4 people behind her that were putting together takeout orders and running food to the dining room which were constantly touching and removing their masks. I have an issue with employees openly not following established policies and getting away with it. Worse, there was one young man with short brown hair that was eating food in front of everyone while he was prepping food right in front of the kitchen. 2 couples actually walked out. I had already placed my order. I asked. to speak to the manager and a young man with a beard came out of the kitchen. I explained what I had witnessed and that I had a problem with this. He stated “I have a problem too” and then walked away. He never asked who it was or even apologized. I found everyone other than the lady at the cash register very unprofessional. I realize we have national labor shortages but that was ridiculous. We took our food home since I was never given a chance to ask for a refund. I recooked everything before serving to my family. Food was kind of mediocre at best. We will not be back. ...

I went to Mama's Chicken because a youtuber recommended it. We ordered online and told it was ready to be picked up at 11:41. We walked up to the PICKUP counter at 11:40 and waited for our order. Behind the counter were 2 associates, a man and woman. Neither acknowledged us, looked at us, greeted us whatsoever. About 10 minutes goes by and the man employee calls out another customers name, still not making eye contact at all with me or my son. This entire time the 2 associates kept turning their backs to us, seeing us but still not acknowledging. Finially, about 20 minutes of waiting still at the CUSTOMER PICK UP COUNTER for ONLINE orders, a very nice cook looked at me and my son and said to the 2 associates " Those 2 have been waiting a really long time" Finially, the female associate actually looked at us and said to me.."you should have yelled at us" I said, you never acknowledged us, you glanced our way several times, but never even came to the counter. So so rude..I guess I'm not accustomed to screaming across counters just to be greeted. We were told we'd be sent an email when the order was ready, the email never came, so we believed our order wasn't ready, The food was great, but the two rude associates obviously have 0 customer service skills. I came to Gatlinburg for a bachelorette trip. We stopped in at Mama‘s kitchen for food before we got our activities started. We ordered the four whole wings combo. First off, the price for four wings two sides and a biscuit is unbeatable. The wings are fried hard and crispy. Real chicken! I got french fries and mac & cheese for my two sides. I was skeptical on ordering mac & cheese out of town from a place that I’ve never eaten before. However, it was not terrible. The mac & cheese was actually seasoned. It’s creamy and it tasted good to compliment the chicken wings. The wings were the star of the show! They were fried to perfection seasoned amazingly and hit the spot. The food portion is also a lot. I didn’t even get to my french fries. While I did taste them and they were good I did not eat them because the mac & cheese wings and biscuit had me full. The biscuit I can tell was homemade And the strawberry jam is equally homemade. The mashed potatoes and gravy were not a fan favorite. However, everything else was on point. Overall, it exceeded our expectations for a quick meal to hold us over until we start our festivities for the weekend. We would go back and probably will go back before the weekend is over.
