We stumbled upon this Cafe while we were in Gatlinburg looking at the artist shops. Was not expecting much being a small place cafe style. However, when we were given the menus I was pleasantly surprised. This reminds me more of a fine-dining Cafe due to the interesting culinary items on the menu. I loved that it said no substitutions, that way the Integrity of the recipe is upheld. I ordered the Classic Club which was anything but classic- a Grilled cheese sandwiched between turkey, ham, swiss, lettuce, tomato and applewood bacon. My husband chose the Morning Mist chicken with grilled chicken, Granny Smith apple slices, gouda cheese and Peach jalapeno jam on artisanal bread. For an appetizer we had the deep fried deviled eggs- which the egg whites are lightly browned and the filling is actually on top of the deep fried egg white, topped w/ a tiny sprinkle of cayenne, Sriracha salt and jalapenos. It was so good I just kept moaning and could not form words! I was actually one of those people who took a picture of my food and we were laughing because I'm not that type. But it was that good I had to send it to my friends. It was not greasy like normal deep-fried nor was it over breaded, it was actually perfect. The sandwiches were so good, neither of us spoke almost the entire meal except to say how good they were. The food was great, the chef actually came out to make sure everything was good (I sung his praises), and we finished with caramel apple cider and peppermint hot chocolate to walk around the outside shops. The whole meal from start to end was Exquisite!! I wish they were closer because I would be going...
Read moreTwo weeks ago I was visiting family due to a passing- & had decided to order lunch for everyone after a long night of emotions. Called the restaurant around 12:30, gentleman answered, stated I wanted to place an order for pickup- he repeatedly questioned where we lived and if we were locals (unsure why that matter if we were picking up) told him yes, we were locals and how my aunt has lived on HH road (maybe 1 1/2 miles away) for 15 years +. Gentleman placed us on hold, saying he was too busy to take an order- overheard him say to a woman that I was waiting where she said “I can’t talk right now! I can’t do it” gentleman got back on the phone where I told him that it was okay, I did not want to continue with the order. Decided to give them another chance the next day and order in person- walked in, stood there for 20 minutes, woman continually made eye contact with me with no acknowledgment and finally came to take my order. The woman basically tried to talk me out of ordering to go since tickets were backed up for a hour. Okay, no big deal- I’ll just order a smoothie. Smoothie still took 30 minutes, the 2 stars are for the smoothie and location, it was very tasty and location is very cute and quaint, but kind of disappointed about the mismanage of customer to cook volume since that seems to the be issue with other negative reviews. I’m unsure if the only two working are the owners, but they need help. I wish them the best and hope I can have a better...
Read moreIf you are willing to wait for over an hour for service, and want a surly and antagonistic owner for a cook, than this is the place for you! My family were under the illusion that, like most places around Gatlinburg, this would be a place for a reasonable meal. However we were quite wrong. The wait staff, which consisted of one very harried and stressed lady, who did her best, and one cook (who claimed to be the owner) in a very small dinner. After placing our order (there were only 4 of us) we waited for around an hour and a half before saying anything to the staff. At this point we needed to leave, so gave notice that if we could not be served within another 15 minutes, we would be on our way. We acknowledged that we could see how busy she was, and it wasn't her fault the food was so late coming out of the kitchen. This brought out the cook/owner, who proceeded to be antagonistic and rude to all of us. It did produce salads, but no burgers. When he returned he threw the burger on the table and stormed off. He also said that an hour wait was normal, so we had no right to expect more. At this point I felt that eating food from his kitchen was a bit risky. He followed me outside, while the other folks paid the tab and proceeded to show his contempt for calling him out on his rudeness. Never again for us, and be forewarned if you decide to eat at the Morning...
