Great source of pottery

We've purchased a number of pieces from Alewine over the years and have been quite happy with them. We have apple bakers, small bowls, an oil lamp. All of their pieces are advertised as microwave, dishwasher, and oven safe.

The store is always fun to browse and a number of pieces are on display. As they're handmade obviously each piece is different, but you can find similar colors and patterns if you look.

This time we noticed there was a small kids play table. This was excellent for a store where you don't want kids wandering around (as many pottery pieces are displayed rather low). We enjoyed the area where I could distract the kids while my wife browsed (or vice versa).

I have been a Customer Service Consultant for many years. I have noticed that this most important benefit a merchant can offer to customers has been lacking with several small & large businesses today. However, Alewine Pottery has provided the most professional and gratifying customer service I have seen in a while. I had bought a nice mug recently and had a problem with it. I notified them and quickly recieved a call from Carla. She offered a replacement and I had it within a few days. I was very impressed and can't wait to visit the shoppe the next time I'm in Gatlinburg and buy some more nice pieces. Every trip to Gatlinburg we stop at Alewine Pottery. It's a family owned business. They all take part, whether sculpting, stenciling, glazing the pottery, or helping you in the showroom. The location is an old cabin with sections that show the entire process, with a showroom that is filled with wonderful pottery in numerous colors. Want plates or cups? Lamps or mixing bowls? How bout a coffee mug? They have all this and more. So far, I have a lamp, a kitchen utensil container, small mixing bowl, coffee mugs, and a vase. My wife and I get a piece every time we go.
