The food was Fine, not awesome. The service was good, not perfect. BUT!!!!!!! the visit was pretty bad. We went because they are dog friendly. We had to sit outside with our dog (This is normal). But it was a cold day. They had us seated under the outside roof that covers half the deck. There was one other table of two out there. It was 52 degrees. We are from the beach and were cold despite wearing hoodies and hats. We decided to move ourselves two tables over so as to sit in the sun. When they brought our food, the waiter realised we had moved. I motioned to him that we moved to be in the sun.
In the next moment we were being chastised by a man from two tables over. He did not introduce himself. He simply hollered at us from the other side of the empty table that was beside us. He started with "I'm sorry guys but I can't have you sitting out here, you're going to have to move back to your table over here." We thought he was joking at first. There were only two tables out there. I asked him if he was serious, and he said that he was. He said that "this section is obviously closed" and you can't be here. Mind you, there was nothing that indicated that the area we were sitting in was any different from where we moved from. We only moved 2 tables over and about 20'. Not only was in not OBVIOUSLY closed, it was not even obviously a different 'section'.
The whole thing was silly at best. But even if he HAD a good reason for asking us to move, he certainly did not reveal it, nor was he polite. Instead of coming to our table, introducing himself, and then proceeding to politely explain the issue, he decided to 'holler' at use from across the room. It's bad enough that he was insisting we sit in the colder area for not good reason, but his manners were non-existent.
I will...
Read moreSo, I gave this restaurant 2 stars. But I would give them 1/2 of a star for my food quality and service. I went on a Sunday evening about 7pm, we waited only about 10 minutes. The server was not the best. She was not attentive and didn't seem to care about the quality of my food. I ordered the chopped steak. It was supposed to have sauteed onions, mushrooms and mushroom gravy over it. I ordered it medium and ask that it not be burnt. When it came out it was black on both sides and gray on the inside(very well done). The onions were barely cooked(crunchy) there were about 4 slices of mushrooms and NO gravy. After it took me over 5 minutes to get the server, I explained the problem and asked for onions that were sauteed more and mushroom gravy. The onions that came out were barely cooked and were barely warm. Still NO gravy. So, I ate it because I was hungry. The server never took our plates away. And FYI, they charge an extra 3.5% on the bill if you use a credit card. This was never communicated to us. Right before we left a young man came and took the dirty dishes and asked if we enjoyed the meal, to which I said NO. He explained that staffing was very short and people doing jobs that they weren't trained for. But he was concerned enough to offer us a free dessert to go. It was the biggest piece of chocolate cake that I have ever seen. I did not get his name, but he is the only reason this got 2 stars. Also, they had live music so loud that we couldn't even talk to each other. I figure that this review will get the owners standard comment to the review, it's the same on each negative review for the past year. Clearly he doesn't care. I will try them again, but I don't expect...
Read moreWhile I am not a bar first, food second fan personally, I have ample reason to visit Jimmy's again, and have flipped my initial opinion. Johan is the man to see for service perfection for starters. Dining inside or out is your choice and is always a plus to us, we chose inside yesterday. I looked through the menu and was overwhelmed as my taste buds danced back and forth. Johan brought us some water and began a conversation. My wife eventually decided on the King James Brisket sandwich and fries. Ordinarily she doesn't eat much so when I looked up from my own feast to see her plate becoming empty, I knew her's was as good as mine. I ordered the Mac and cheese with brisket bowl, and could not touch the remaining 1/3 of the offering as it was more than I could eat. Lastly, if I may, there is a secret here. In the conversation Johan and I had at the beginning I asked if I might have one of thebsauces dedicated to a Pork dinner with my brisket. Johan assured me he would see to it. He brought out as a matter of course, a small ramekin of it in case I wanted a little extra. They call it Blackberry Chipotle sauce. I love smoked foods and they did the brisket so well but this sauce is the perfect add on for my taste. Not too hot and not too sweet, my wife even dipped a ff in a couple if times. I suggest you try what ever they offer, and at least, have a piece if Italian cake before you leave. Johan says.... if it is your first time here, it will not be your last. We agree Ps. The prices were less than the value of the food quality and quantity. Less than $40 for a great meal...
