Let me start out by saying that I always support local businesses and have the utmost respect for what it takes to make it thrive.

However it is with regret that I am about to post probably the poorest review I have or ever will.

If I could choose zero stars I would.

I respect that this is a Super Bowl and yes the weekend. I wanted to treat myself and my elderly aunt to something special, a treat.

I drove all the way from Elgin which is about at least 20 minutes past bagel shops in my area to go here.

I ordered two bagels not toasted with cream cheese. Easy no special requests. I waited and watched at least five other people after me walk away with larger and more specialized orders. I still waited. Finally the person who I assume is the owner asked asked If I was helped.

Ok here is my version of what happened.

I said no and I told him my name. But I also mentioned that I was waiting a long time and that the only complaint that I had was that I saw other people getting their orders when they were after me.

On top of that I did not even get the bagel I wanted as they filled all the other orders before me. I was still ok with that!!

After I finally got after at least twenty minutes waiting my order. A customer who walked in after got in my face telling me that I was unreasonable and ruining it for everyone else. Everyone around me in there looked at me like I was the most horrible person.

It would have helped if the person who I interacted with had said something in my defense but stood there.

I was in tears when I left and gave my food to someone in my house as I did not have the stomach to eat it.

Was I supposed to wait and say nothing? I didn't complain about the wait. I didn't complain when I didn't get what I ordered.

I did complain when I felt ignored, and then embarrassed and humiliated.

There is a new Whole Foods opening in St Charles soon and will be at least fifteen minutes closer. I will be going there...

Stopped in today for a bagel sandwich for lunch. I’m a BIG bagel fan, and I heard about this place a few weeks ago, so I instantly put it on my radar.

Got there, and they had a nice, but clearly struggling lady trying to ring up people at the register, and one other lady who appeared more capable actually making the food, but constantly having to break off her duties to assist the struggling register. My turn at the pass, before I can give my order, register lady turns, puts gloves on and starts making a sandwich…Bagel lady sees someone she knows walk in, so she leaves from behind the counter to greet and hug them and talk about motorcycles or something…finally, bagel lady returns to behind the counter, and I give my order…sausage egg and plain cream cheese on an onion bagel. Bagel lady goes to make it.

Register lady turns around and says ā€œhere’s your bacon egg and cheese bagelā€ā€¦mind you…she left the register before I even said a word to anyone and went to make that bagel…there was only one other dude behind me…I have no earthly idea where she manifested this phantom order…bagel lady was just as perplexed as me. Register lady asks if I changed my order or if she did something wrong…she keeps asking…her volume getting louder and louder…clearly doesn’t want to get in trouble…so she keeps going back to the idea that I must have changed my order…mind which I still haven’t said a word to this lady yet…bagel lady tries to brush past this and complete my order…which I am given…so I leave.

I get to the office…no cream cheese…no cheese of any sort…just the sausage and a slimy half hard egg on a bagel that wasn’t quite toasted. Clearly bagel lady was frazzled by register lady who appeared to just completely space out…so I understand why she botched the order…

I’ll give this place one more shot in the future…the bagel itself was good, Cool building/atmosphere…just the front of the line staff was kind of a joke…the interaction was just...

So today was my birthday, and I was really craving a bagel from bad guy bagels because I had one opening day and it was awesome! I drove 20 minutes bright and early to come snag one and to my surprise when I arrived at 7:40 there was a few customers already inside ordering and I thought maybe they opened early before 8am. So I walked in to order and when I went up to order I had asked the lady if I could have a lox breakfast bagel and she told me that they could not make it for me because their toaster was getting repaired, which was understandable. The thing that was uncalled for was the owners attitude. He made the remark ā€œwe aren’t even open yet, and you want a sandwich? What time is it, we aren’t even open.ā€ Like excuse me? You were taking other customers orders so I came in and proceeded to order as well. The owners attitude was unprofessional and uncalled for. I was also embarrassed/uncomfortable of being spoken to this way while there was other customers waiting behind me to order. I ended up getting a bagel with some schmear to take home but I ended up not even eating it because I had lost my appetite after being spoken to this way by the owner. Very...

Bad Guy Bagels is the best place to go to for quality bagels, breakfast sandwiches, shmear, and now they have GELATO! My wife and I have made it a weekly habit to come here just about every Saturday (our schedules permitting) and we love it every time. The staff is so friendly, the food is exceptional, and it’s one of those small-town places that you just root for and hope to see succeed. It’s so exciting to see all the new things they add to their menu or their shop all the time, too. We brought a friend who was visiting from Indiana here for breakfast. He loved it so much, he came BACK FROM INDIANA without telling us until later šŸ˜‚ That should give you a good idea on what this place has to offer. If you’ve never been here, please try it. You’ll want to make it a weekly habit, too!

My dad and I found this place while driving to work a week ago, and have already been back several times. We've ordered in the store, and ordered ahead. In store, we didn't have to wait long at all for our order. Plus you can play Frogger or PacMan while you're waiting.... that was awesome. When ordering ahead, they had the bagels ready to go. They wait til I get there to pour the iced coffee, which I appreciate so it's not all melty. Talked to the women working and they are so kind and funny. We talked about how it's hard not to eat the cream cheese by the spoonful... which is so true! Yes, the cream cheese is a little messy on a toasted bagel.... but like... duh, it's hot. Great bagels, great cream cheese, great coffee, great staff. Looking forward to becoming a regular!

Fantastic Bagel shop. I should know. My 2nd job in high-school and college was working at "Once upon a Bagel" in Highland Park. This place reminds me of the old guys making the bagels in the back every early morning , 7 days a week. Nice crust and chewy. Back in my youth Jerry used to say, now that's the way a bagel should be. This was our 1st chance to visit after reading the great reviews, but it will be on our weekly list of stops. If you love bagels and fantastic cream chez choices, you gotta give Bad Guy Bagels a taste. I promise you won't be disappointed. The husband ,wife owner team are also amazing.
