Alfresco Italian Bistro — Restaurant in Georgetown

If I could rate this lower I would. Today was my first time here I live local In Georgetown, and thought I’d try it out. I went in got seated ordered my drinks and asked the waitress for a high chair for my one year old daughter, I got brought a high chair and not thinking anything of it put her inside the high chair immediately she starts crying and screaming to the top of her lungs telling me “mommy hot, mommy hot” I picked her up out the high chair only to put my hand on the seat of this infant high chair to find that it was scolding hot I put my hand on it for 3 seconds and jerked my hand up, I tell the waitress and she goes to put ice inside the high chair seat to “cool it down” meanwhile the table next to me is looking over in shock. She brings the high chair back and proceeds to tell me “sorry it’s kind of like putting your child in a car seat that’s been in a hot car” I’m sorry but there’s no reason an infant high chair should be that hot to where I couldn’t stand it after 3 seconds. After being pretty much fed up at this point I still decided to stay and order my food I ordered oven roasted chicken breast over garlic mashed potatoes and asked for the sauce to be on the side, while waiting on my food my daughter accidentally knocked over a water I politely asked for some napkins TWICE to wipe the water up before she came back and moved us to a different table, then our food comes and the sauce wasn’t on the side like I had asked, sent it back to have a new plate made with the sauce on the side like I originally asked. The waitress didn’t refill our drinks not one time until after I already got my check. I will say the food was good could’ve been better but good. Service sucked. I rarely leave reviews, but I felt this experience needed to be shared. While seated at the bar, I asked for a simple item—some bread—and was told by the bartender that she was too busy and would get me some if she could. I decided after finishing my appetizer and hearing other interactions by the bartender and manager that I would just get my check and leave. She asked why I was leaving and I simply responded by saying I didn’t realize it was too much to ask for bread, and that I was simply a customer trying to enjoy a meal. It felt like every request I made was a burden, and that she was too overwhelmed to provide basic service so it would be best for me to leave.

If the staff is too busy to attend to guests, then maybe seating should be limited—but customers shouldn’t be made to feel like an inconvenience. I had intended to order more food and drinks.

What made the situation worse was when I later called to share feedback, and the man who answered told me I was not welcome back due to how I “treated” the bartender. He wasn’t even present during the interaction, yet immediately accused me of being unkind without asking for my side of the story.

I’ve worked in hospitality and understand how hard the job can be, but no customer deserves to be dismissed, spoken down to, or told not to return simply for expecting basic service. He was awful in the way he said it. I’ve never experienced any customer service like I did...

Excellent food service perfect wait staff Super clean Comfortable seating inside or intbe alley that is sooo charming or outside curbside under the colorful umbrellas Love the alley seating or streetside Never had better bread & butter pre dinner Great wine selections as well as beer and full liquor bar selections Bartender has a perfect personality for the job! Dessert is housemade Wonderful selection Must try the chocolate cake!! Bar small plates are like a tasting menu that can be ordered in a larger size as well Don’t miss the Calamari I’ve never had it any better anywhere!
