Update: second visit was very disappointing. A friend and I knew there was going to be a larger party later in the afternoon so we went well before that time. They told us it would be a 15-minute wait even though there was plenty of room in the bar and outside. They didn't offer us either. After 20 or 30 minutes we asked how much longer and they said 10 minutes or 15 minutes still. At some point we said well can we order at the bar and the one lady said well it would take a long time because these other people just now got their food. So we waited another until finally someone came over and asked us if we were the people that were on their list and would we like to order in the bar! So we said please and they said someone would be over to take care of us. Another 10 or 15 minutes went by still nobody came. By that time the large party had arrived and everyone was obviously busy getting them seated and menus so we know it was hopeless at that point. But here's the thing either don't tell us that you can get us in and make us wait for 45 minutes for nothing or just say we have the area reserved or anything but how it was actually handled. We left and got good food and service somewhere else. I work in sales and customer service and have waited tables, so I know it could have been done so much better. This was a very bad experience and now I don't know if I'll ever go back or recommend it to anyone.
Since it was just my first time there I didn't give it a five star only because I haven't seen enough or tried enough there. But people were friendly the food was excellent decent prices and servings and there is a nice little View and you can eat outside if you would like to. I would definitely want to go back there again. PS Some people probably would like to know that there are health food and vegetarian options which I don't find at a lot of places around here. So good job folks, we appreciate it...
Read moreWe came to Georgetown this past Saturday by boat for my father-in-law's birthday and stopped in for a drink and appetizer before our dinner at Between the Antlers.
There were 8 of us (6 adults, 2 kids) and we were sat at one of the couches outside. The service was less than ideal. We ordered drinks, then a couple of appetizers. The waitress seemed like she was in a fog--even came back to try to take our order again after having just taken it.
The drinks took around 15 minutes to get to us--well after the apps were dropped off. One of the adults ordered a soda (the captain), and she didn't even bring that until after the bar drinks came out and she had to be asked again. The drinks that came out were watered down and none of us could taste a hint of alcohol in the drinks. The server also brought the drinks out one at a time for some reason, something I've never seen a server do.
The apps were two fried pickle baskets--they use giant pickle slices and an extremely light coating of breading--they almost looked like just sliced pickles there was such little breading. Don't know why they can't use normal-sized sliced pickles or actually bread the whole thing, but it caused them to be soggy. Taste was there but texture is lacking.
After taking 15 minutes to bring us drinks, and well after the apps came out, we didn't see the server again until she brought the bill, and she then happily told us she gratted the table.
quite frankly, i normally tip above a grat amount to include taxes and the full bill amount, so it's fair to the server. but as bad as her service was and the experience, I was surprised she had the nerve to do it (we didn't complain or anything). We just paid it because we had to run for dinner plans, but the whole thing was just a bad experience. Kind of hate it because the...
Read moreHostess and waitress were not amicable. Hostess seemed zoned out and just running through the motions. Waitress seemed like she had somewhere else she'd rather be and was not happy to be serving us. Everyone has bad days though.
Atmosphere was pretty good. Something new for Georgetown. Decor/wall art was awesome. Outdoor dining on the boardwalk is beautiful.
Food was good overall. Cocktails were overpriced and under poured.
Meat and bean nachos (small): decently portioned. Good flavor. Could've used more meat. Looks like they just dumped the black beans out of the can onto the nachos. Had the bean "juice" pooling in the bottom which created soggy nachos. Good overall. Would eat again.
Fried pickles: nothing special. Average sliced pickles fried in batter. Personally wouldn't eat again because I didn't like the type of pickle used. Would recommend for others.
Wings (Thai chilli): wings were cooked perfectly and had a nice smoked flavor (was a little overpowering for others in my group.) The thai chilli sauce was good, not overly spicy or sweet. Just right. Great overall. Would eat again.
Tavern club: that smoked flavor really coming in here on the turkey, combined with the ham and bacon, it was awesome. The vinaigrette wasn't overpowering. Sandwich was very well made. Great overall. Would eat again.
Guiness beer battered fish and chips: American take on an English dish. The batter was seasoned good and the fish was cooked perfectly. Not greasy. Good overall. Would eat again.
BYO burger: regular cheeseburger. Decent size. Nothing special. Patties seemed to be handmade, not frozen. Good overall. Would recommend.
Fries: average fries. Seasoned and cooked good. Not greasy. Good overall....
