
I can't say enough about the Maritime Museum and how much I appreciate & respect what it provides to our Historic little Town. They host the Annual Wooden Boat Show. It gives Georgetownians an event to look forward to each year. It helps boost our economy by bringing Exhibitors, tourists, and locals together to enjoy the show and while they are here they soend money in our stores and restaurants. I entered my boat this year in the Classic Inboard category. I have a 70 year old Commercial Fishing Vessel that is a working shrimp boat. I didn't win but I had a great time. Real nice scale models of those ships. Videos of the retrieval of some of those artifacts. All in all a good look at a chunk of local history. The museum is on the historic waterfront. Read moreThe South Carolina Maritime Museum hosted a boatbuilding camp for 8-12 year olds last week. The instructors came from the Lowcountry Maritime Society out of Mt. Pleasant and were fantastic. I couldn't believe that these kids built a small row boar and launched it in a week! This includes painting the boat and riding in it in the river. There were 2 teams of 6 kids and 2 boats were completed. By far one of the best summer camps ever, my grandson raved about...
