My Heavenly Father!!! Is what I have say when, and before I speak about “She Did That Soul Food”. Long but worth it post🙌🏽🙏🏽🙌🏽🔥🔥🔥🔥
I have been looking for a REAL Soul Food restaurant, since my husband passed 6 YEARS AGO (he was a country man that cooked like his momma); and Honey I have FINALLY found IT💖🏆🌟🔥🌟🔥
I pulled up as the owner was putting the sign “Welcome Home - SOLD OUT!” In the door and my heart sank. She must have read the expression on my face and came out to explain. They had sold out of everything except baked turkey, rice, black eyed peas, yams, Lima beans and two pieces of baked chicken. I said okay I’ll take it. Being that my husband cooked so well, I know that if they are closing early because they sold out, then the food is 🔥🔥🔥🔥.
She apologized for not having much to choose from. (Who does that, when your business is Booming)!!! But then she did something that I have NEVER-EVA experienced at other restaurants. She offered to fry me some chicken if I didn’t mind waiting. 🙏🏽👍🏽💃🏼 W-H-H-H-A-A-T-T‼️ I am sooooo happy that I waited🙏🏽😋🙏🏽
That chicken was the bomb 💣, it was seasoned down to the bones 🍖 🦴. The baked turkey fell off the bone 🍖 and was also well seasoned. The black eye peas OMG🙌🏽 They were out of gravy so they put the broth from the turkey over the rice 🔥💖🔥, normally I don’t order white rice, but HONEY there wasn’t one grain of rice left when I was done 😋. The Lima beans were perfect, the cornbread muffin “my God”‼️‼️ If that wasn’t enough, The Yams OMGoodness🙏🏽🙌🏽🙏🏽 I have NOT had anyone’s (including my own) yams that came close to my husband’s yams until now!!
So many people claim to be able to cook “Soul Food”, but they either under season or over season the food. HOWEVER, at “She Did That Soul Food”. The food is not only well seasoned, but the food is cooked with LOVE🙌🏽🔥🙌🏽🔥🙌🏽
So I don’t get upset and choose not to support this family; call first if that will help. Because I promise, YOU will not be disappointed. If not, then that is more for ME and my...
Read moreI really wanted to enjoy this restaurant. I visited the location a few times just to see if things ran normally that way or if it was just an off day.
The lady in the front was really nice; however, she kept scratching her hair through her bonnet and never washed hands before handling food (didn't even put on gloves). This happened at least four times as I stood there.
The wait is extreme. One visit consisted of only 2 people ahead of me. They'd both placed orders prior to me entering, yet I waited 15 mins for my order to be taken. I understand some items are cooked to order; however, the person waiting on food that's already made, shouldn't have to wait until cooked to order items are complete prior to placing order (appears that's what happened).
The next visit had more people there, but the wait was still extreme. The lady up front appeared to be overwhelmed, which is understandable when you have several people staring at you for service.
The first visit, my food was salty. I didn't really enjoy it at all. I went again to see if it was an off day. The food was much better next visit.
The location is nice and clean. The staff was friendly, I just think a few slight tweaks should happen to keep things professional. The cook shouldn't be chewing food while bringing food items to the front. The front staff shouldn't be scratching hair without washing hands or putting on gloves prior to handling food. Seasoning food can always be a hit or miss for various reasons, so I'm not really mad at that.
Due to wait times and cleanliness (hair scratching without properly washing hands after), I probably wouldn't return.
I'd really hoped this would be my new spot. I was tired of driving a distance...
Read moreEdit: so I went in today I got my food.
I saw the menu online and I saw the pricing it said the chicken dinner was $12 maybe $11
I noticed the menu prices inside were covered but prices are listed on their site and google
Nonetheless I got the combo
The 3pc that come with the two sides
And I got a banana pudding as well
When my total came up to $31 I was shocked cause I could’ve swore it said the dinner was much lower on the website
I still paid because I had somewhere to be within 30 min but when I went in my car to think about it I’m like I didn’t get a receipt I’m thinking maybe it’s an error
I come back in ask the young woman working she said the banana pudding was $10 and the 3pc meal was $21 after taxes
Mind you that’s basically
$7 more than what the banana pudding says on the menu
$10 more than the chicken says on the menu
But I was like maybe prices went up
I been out all day so I didn’t even look at my banana pudding til now when I’m home
But I see on the back of it , it clearly says $6 and all I can do is laugh cause I knew that shxx ain’t add up to be no $31
So not only do I feel a certain type of way I’m just like what kind of business are y’all running ? Are y’all just pricing stuff what you want or what ? Prices are clearly hidden so you can keep changing them as you please without notifying the public! Nonetheless this just put a bad taste in my mouth. I don’t need a refund , but I will leave this review and this photo and hope y’all fix that for the next customer . That’s...
