We arrived as a party of two at 7:30 on a Friday night and were seated right away. It took 15 min for our waiter to come by and ask about drinks. We ordered cheese bites as an appetizer, which I am now glad we did, because we didn't get our food until 8:30. Our waiter did offer more croissants as well since it took so long. I ordered the country fried steak, and my daughter ordered the chicken alfredo. My daughter said the chicken was good, but the pasta with her three pieces of broccoli weren't anything to write home about. The steak was huge and took up most of the plate. I was expecting a white gravy but got brown. No big deal, the steak was still good. I did find it odd to fund a piece of toast under it. My sides were corn and mashed potatoes. Neither was good. The corn was advertised to be off the cob buttered. Neither were the case as they were simply heated up canned corn. The potatoes look like they scraped the bottom of a pot to scrounge up the last tablespoon, or maybe they got them out of the trash since I found other things in them like the hair that was my last straw and caused me to stop eating. This was my first visit to Cheddars, and I was so excited, but left never wanting yo return. My plate was comped since, as you see in the picture, I didn't eat much and had to dig a hair out of my mouth. I was sadly very disappointed.

Had a late lunch at Cheddar's which was our second visit since retiring to the Athens area 4 months ago. Although our first visit was during a very busy time for the restaurant, and the food was delicious, the service left alot to be desired. This recent visit was the opposite, a slow time with excellent service. We ordered the spinach dip and expected the norm but this one was definitely much better than most others we've tasted and they definitely gave a generous amount. We each ordered the $6.95 lunch special...we chose half sandwich & soup. The Monte Cristo was light and tasty and chicken tortilla soup was just alright. Club sandwich was good but was expecting a true club...double decker, this was just a single with 2 pieces of toasted bread instead of 3 and the baked potato soup was only likewarm. Would still go back because overall the dining experience is enjoyable.

Great place hard working bartender. The only issue is support for the bartender. Tables are dirty no one assisting to help the guy out. The to-go girl sitting at the POS doing nothing for 20mins now. Would think she would take initiative to help clean and clear some tables for his coworker and most importantly the future customers, as of right now no walk ins can sit in the bar area. We've sat for a hr now and still haven't gotten any food. Love cheddars, I will always be here, but employee support appreciation is needed from the managers. Sever is talking in that picture for atleast 30mins. She can clean and do some fricken work, servers sitting down talking when the bar is a mess....... who is the manager tonight, do leadership skills, I want to yell so bad DO SOME WORK!!!!! VERY VERY SAD!!! Ps. 3 guest came in and we told them to leave!!

I went to Cheddars on 11/14/2022 on Oconee Connector in Athens, Georgia, 30606. I decided to visit Cheddars Scratch Kitchen for my 2022 Birthday.

We were seated at table #52. Immediately a polite, friendly waitress named Desiree came out with sweet rolls to greet us; so far so good.

I order the Bone in Rib eye; medium well, Red Beans and Rice, and Broccoli casserole. My 2 other guess had different entrees. Once our dinner arrived, I begin to open my silverware; it was disgusting. My guest proceeded to do the same and the results was identical. I beckoned for the waitress to come over and take a gander; she was extremely embarrassed. She stated, “I will go and wash and clean some silverware for you, I apologize”.

Now we can’t eat any of our meal due to the fact that we were waiting for her to come back with our silverware. About 7 minutes later she returned with wrapped silverware. I asked for A1 steak sauce because now we can eat. Nope not yet for me. When I cut into my steak the blood was oozing from the meat; I was alarmed because I ordered medium-well.

Now I have to wait for the waitress to come back to the table. This being my first time at Cheddars, I was not aware that the device sitting at the end of the table was for the customers use to call for waitress assistance. When we were seated, the device displayed games on the front, therefore I internalized that it was a device for kids entertainment; never touched it once.Besides that waitress had handed us menus.

6 minutes later waitress showed up with steak sauce; now I bothered. All I wanted was a nice steak dinner for my birthday. I asked her to just return the steak no need for a redo.

My guest meals were adequate nothing to note about. Since they had begun to eat and almost complete with their meal I decided to order myself a Cheddars Legendary Monster cookie to go. Waitress brought it out to me as my guess was completing their meal. “Why did I do that”? I look into the Togo containers and the cookie was burnt.

Waitress looked at cookie and could only apologize. I asked for a manager in which She said, “I apologize for all that has happened to you today, let me go find him. I promise you I waited for 15 minutes before a manager came to my table. To the point I had to get up and go to the front greeters to ask them to please find the manager for me. As I was walking back to my table the waitress approached me said she was still trying to find him. I told her I just asked the greeters to see if they could locate him.

Minutes later Jordan came to my table I explained to him from beginning to end my conundrum concerning the dirty silverware, raw steak, and burnt monster cookie. He stood there in a taciturn manner. He apologize and stated, “he will have another cookie made for me” turned around and walked away. He brought the remake cookie out for my approval with another cup of ice cream. I thanked him payed my tab and the tab of my guest (Because I chose Cheddars for my Birthday, they shouldn’t have had to pay for the subpar experience) and left the building.

This was not the experience I was expecting from Cheddars Scratch Kitchen in Athens. I truly wish it could have been better. I ended up eating Freddy’s Double Cheeseburger Next door for my...

By far the worst experience via customer service! Delicious salad that took 30 minutes to get with NO explanation from anyone. Sadly, our server had to bartend as well. I guess there is more tips in bartending than serving tables . She's walked by our table many times and never acknowledged that our food was taking so long . I asked for the manager,(Jordon). He stood, with his arms behind his back, listened to my concerns and said nothing. On the positive note, salad was delicious but not for a 30 minute wait! I didn't want anything free but please, give a an explanation of 30 minutes...

Let me preface this by saying I very rarely leave reviews. I think if there’s a problem it should always be dealt with by contacting the establishment. I worked half my life in the food and service industry and owned a restaurant so I understand mistakes can be made at any time and some things are out of the managing partner’s control. So that’s what I did the first time I had a problem at this location.

We decided to give Cheddar’s in Athens another try after a terrible visit the last time we went and were ignored after being seated for 35 minutes. We had tried getting the attention of several servers but we couldn’t get anyone to respond to us. Seriously, the servers made eye contact with us and completely ignored us. We left without being able to order anything. When we called the location, the manager apologized and said they would like to send an email to us with a meal on them. He took my email down, verified the email before hanging up. We thought wow! He is going above and beyond and we were beyond grateful. It never came.

So, we went again hoping it would turn out better this time. The server had a great disposition so it started off great. She took our drink and food order no problem. Appetizer and drinks came out timely from the kitchen but that’s when it declined. We waited about an hour to get our food even though we were only one of four tables sat in the restaurant. The cheeseburger was dry (bun was hard as a rock and the meat was dry), the soup was old and tasted like it had been heated over and over, and dessert was not heated through. Our drinks were empty and not refilled before we left even though our server came to our table several times while they were empty.

The lady seated behind us stopped the manager while she was walking around the floor to let her know she couldn’t pay the bill on the electronic table device and the manager, without stopping, said “just back out of it and it should work”. After about 20 minutes of trying to pay she flagged down a server to let her know she had tried everything and it wouldn’t let her pay. The server took care of it then.

On a good note, the server had a great disposition and the appetizers were hot and fresh. However, the wait time, the empty drinks, and the main courses left much to be desired. I always loved Cheddar’s and maybe we’ll give them another try at a later date, but not in the near future. Going out to eat is too expensive to waste it on a restaurant I can’t guarantee I’ll get what’s paid for and that the manager won’t keep their word to...
