We just found our new favorite restaurant went visiting the grandparents in the North GA, NC area. From the service to the food, it’s an A+ from this family.
We had the tamales and deviled crab for appetizers and both were outstanding. When hearing of the tamales, I wasn’t too sure whether I’d like them or not because I’m used to Mexican tamales and Cuban tamales are different. Well, they more than exceeded my expectations and I actually liked them more than the tamales I get from my favorite restaurant. The slightly sweeter corn masa and pork combined with the garlic butter is just an amazing combination of flavor I never thought I’d enjoy but devoured. The deviled crab is fantastic as well. I’m a crab cake fan and I can’t think of a single thing they could do to improve this recipe. It’s just perfectly flavored with a nice crisp crust. We had the Cuban sandwiches and chicken kebabs, which were both outstanding. The Cuban bread was cooked to perfection with the beautifully crisp crust and filled with moist and flavorful pork and ham. We were hurting by the time we started on the chicken kebabs so had to take those home but the flavor of that was delish as well. We finished the meal with some outstanding tres leches cake that was moist and flavorful. You could tell a lot of love went into that cake. It tasted authentic and not like others I’ve had that seem almost like they’re from a box mix. Their tres leches cake is fresh and tastes like their grandma had just made it. My son had a burger and it was the size of his head but he somehow ate the entire thing. He’s 4 years old but was asking if we could work there so we could eat their food whenever we wanted. He’s going through a picky eater phase but thoroughly enjoyed his meal and dessert. He’s a shy little fella but was happy to give them a hug goodbye before leaving. He was moaning like a grandpa getting in and out of the car afterwards thanks to a happy belly.
We will be back! I feel like we not only found our new favorite restaurant but a new little extension of our family at Dan’s Grille. We will be sure to hit up this spot every time we’re back in town visiting with family and will bring them some fresh goods from our farm back home to share with the lovely staff as a thank-you...
Read moreI am vert surprised to see such an average place to be rated so high. Its good to be generous but some times too much generosity can be unfair. I tried the so called famous cuban sandwich today. Some Pieces of ham in a pressed cuban bread with mayo and mustard is not a master class authentic cuisine, rather a very average no-risk option that anybody can make in their own house. What’s the point of praising that so much and making it so special ? A close to 5 review restaurant should have something special in their menu to deserve such praise. They have to earn it by taking risk with innovative and unique dish. Not just by serving some no-risk home food. Anyway it’s clean but the service is Inconsistent i.e. hit n miss - i was there for 30 mnts - no body asked me for a water refill and also forgot to give me my coffee after the meal (as I requested). However I noticed they were treating some regulars and elderly couples differently. Good for them, I guess ! All in all - not a place to remember or suggest , and most importantly don’t deserve more than...
Read moreread great reviews and so excited to try this place for first time today. So disappointed. Ordered steak sandwich. Meat was like tough shoe leather in nondescript bread. I took onions , and tomatoes off sandwich and ate them along with black beans. At end meal ordered coffee after having to flag down waitress. No lie, the coffee was so old and thick it was like syrup and cold. Obviously left over from breakfast. The waitress did offer to make new pot and the second cup was very good, best part of the meal in fact. Our quick lunch took two hours. Waitress was sweet, but obviously in need of training. Then to add insult to injury when paying with card gave no choice but give a minimum of 15% tip, regardless of poor service. Oh, and you don't get to look at your bill before you pay it, so you...
