I must say, after 3 different visits of ordering different dishes from here, I do not understand the bad reviews. I've ordered the Cajun pasta the first time. I do not like very spicy things, but I do enjoy a good pasta. I ordered the pasta medium (they also had two other spicier options). The pasta was pretty good. The flavor was to my liking and it was what it was... medium spicy. Oh, on this same visit my husband ordered the fish po'boy and BOY, do they give you a lot of fish! It was very tasty!!!
The second time around, I ordered the fish dinner (you choose between three different types of fish). I chose the tilapia and it was such a huge portion of it. It was seasoned perfectly and crispy just like I like it. I was addicted to this place by this time.
The third time I ordered I ordered the combination plate. I got the catfish, oysters, shrimp, hushpuppies, and fries. Once again, they did not disappoint. The seasoning was impeccable, the flakiness of the fish, and also the other components were extremely delicious! You can tell the hushpuppies were handmade and not some generic food that was frozen from another company and shipped there. I really enjoy their food guys.
I do not understand the bad reviews unless someone is trolling this place due to them being a competitor. But the bad reviews are a bit detailed so maybe not. Maybe they've just heeded the complaints and got better over time. Hey, that's what businesses should do! Whatever the reasons, I just wanted to come quite a bit of times to provide a good solid review with honesty and integrity. Oh, whether by phone or in person, the customer service was always great, too. The first time I called the woman helped me so much we stayed on the phone about 10-15 minutes because I asked so many questions about different dishes they offered. It is true she could have been schooled a bit more on what they offered but she still knew exactly who to ask to find the answer. I will not complain too much...
Read moreAfter deciding to try this Doos location again after my last bad experience, once again I was very disappointed. The owner answered the phone and put me on hold. After holding for almost ten minutes, I had to drive to the restaurant. When I walked in, I had to remind him that the phone was off the hook and that was bad for business. It always seems as if he serves smaller portions than advertised and what you pay for. Today he stated that there was an up charge for sauce. When I walked in the place was empty per usual. However this place had a HORRIBLE ODOR. I’ve been to plenty of seafood restaurants and no the smell isn’t from seafood. It smells as if something (an animal is deceased inside) and you can also tell cigarettes are being smoked in the establishment. I’ve been to other Doos locations and they don’t even want to be associated with this poor location. Other locations/employees refer to this Loganville location as “THE BAD COUSIN.” And they’re also aware of numerous people complaining about the poor service, small portions, and foul odor. I’m surprised this location is still open. If the owner doesn’t give the proper portions and take care of their restaurant’s cleanliness/sanitation, I won’t be surprised if it gets shut down. I don’t care about the closeness to my area, I needed seafood quick for a function, but I won’t be returning. I would like to rate this place...
Read moreSo let me share the good before the bad. “Z” was a fabulous server. She was super helpful and on point. She was kind and answered every question quickly and respectfully.
Now to the bad....
We walked in and were the only people in the restaurant. We were seated and asked what we’d like to drink. We both ordered sweet tea and were told there wasn’t any. We then requested water. We looked over the menu and decided on what we wanted to order. My husband ordered shrimp and I ordered crab legs. I asked for them plain with just melted butter on the side. I was then informed that they do not have plain melted butter, only the lemon pepper butter and sweet butter. I questioned her and then realized it wasn’t her fault. You could tell she was embarrassed having to tell me she couldn’t do it. We chatted for a minute and then decided we would go somewhere else. I’m not sure how you own a seafood business and do not offer plain melted butter. This could be a good restaurant if modifications were made. I’ve worked in the restaurant industry for many years and have only walked out of a restaurant maybe 3 times in my life. So hopefully they will change it up a little and keep good business. (I also hope I don’t get a nasty reply like on others, but if...
