Marlene's — Restaurant in Georgia

This place doesn't even deserve 1 star. I walked up with my brother, we ask for the cover charge.. the security guard says "Free for ladies and $10 for men." I walk inside and I'm immediately stopped to check my wallet which I know is standard protocol. Meanwhile my brother was already pat down and I was going to pay the $10 for him. So our coworkers get up to greet us and I hear them yelling at him "Hey, Yo Yo" "Hey you".... I was like "hey I'm paying for him" to the older white grumpy gentleman at the payment counter. The aroma reaked of racism, smoke, and funk. He then told us we both had to pay to get in. We are corporate professionals and know how business works and know how to treat customers and the way he treated us was beyond despicable. His demeanor, facial expressions and tone was that of anger and disgusts. We chose not to patronize this establishment, as we were leaving the lady who checked my wallet said "Why are yall leaving that fast" I stated to her that the grumpy santa looking guy made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcomed. She said "Oh, yea he's always like that". My friends and I will not be returning here and will drive the extra miles to go in the city and actually enjoy our atmosphere and feel appreciated, especially when we know we will be drinking and...

Me and my husband have been coming here for a few years. We normally come when it's free to shoot pool which was Monday thru Wednesday. However, on Monday March 18th, 2024 on a night that's normally free, we were told by the guy working behind the bar that due to the tables having to be repaired, pool was no longer free except on Wednesdays. After paying to play FIVE games me and my husband notice the female staff member OPEN a pool table to allow some people who had just walked in to play for FREE. To see this after being told that games were NOT FREE as a loyal customer is very disappointing. Also, as a business, if you're gonna have security at your establishment, they could at least LOOK LIKE SECURITY. As a woman, I will never ALLOW anyone to come to me asking to look in my purse nor touch on me that looks like a stranger. The gentleman who worked security looked like he was dressed for bed and was standing outside smoking a cigarette with a beanie on. I hope that the owner will read this review and take action because these things can hinder customers from doing anymore...

Finally stopped by after living around the corner for years. The doors open at 8pm and my friends and I got there by 9pm, yup we opened with them, first ones through the doors and the only ones there until around 9:50 then honey talk about packed and pumping. The tunes were okay, the DJ played a little of everything so we made our way to the dance floor after we played a few rounds of pool. We really came for the food and drinks, and were not disappointed. the wings were delicious, we tried most of the flavors and they were willing to make a few adjustments for us. Candy was super sweet and charming to me and my friends and even gave us a little back story of the bar name. I won't spoil it for you, so go ask her okay. We noticed security, there was alot of them so clearly Marlene's all about safety measures being in place, there was also an entry charge 9 and after (come early and you won't have to pay it of course) it's worth a trip and could be an awesome low-key spot for you on the weekends.
