Dinner for 2 We parked the car in what turned out to be a mixed-use area and lucked out with a spot right up front. As we stepped out, we were greeted by someone we’d later come to know as Tony. He welcomed us warmly and asked if we preferred to sit at a table or at the bar. Surprisingly, Wifey chose the bar. I had made a reservation on OpenTable for 5:15 PM. Even though the place wasn’t too busy at the time, I let Tony know about the reservation just to avoid getting dinged on the app. He acknowledged that and made a note in the system. Tony handed us menus and pointed us to a QR code to scan the beer list. He was enthusiastic about the freshly smoked chicken dinner, which came with two sides. When it came to the beer selection, Tony really knew his stuff. He asked about our favorite styles, and when Wifey said she liked lagers, he recommended a Mexican lager. She ended up going for a full 16 oz pour. As for me, he mentioned a couple of Hazy IPAs, both of which I’d tried already. Then he suggested the Pernicious IPA by Wicked Weed—something I’d also had before and really enjoyed—so I went with that. So it was the Mexican lager for Wifey and the Pernicious for me. After browsing the menu, I ordered the smoked turkey club—no avocado, no tomatoes—with a side of rice and black beans. Wifey went with Tony’s recommendation: the smoked chicken dinner with mac & cheese and coleslaw. My sandwich was excellent. The bread had that perfect crunch on the outside and was soft inside. Everything worked together just right, and even the rice and beans were well-seasoned. Wifey was equally happy with her meal. The smoked chicken had great flavor, the mac & cheese was creamy and satisfying, and even the coleslaw hit the mark. The side portions were generous—big enough that I managed to sneak a few bites myself. All in all, everything was delicious. We both loved our beers, the food hit the spot, and Tony took amazing care of us from start to finish.

We had a poor experience with customer service (in 2016) and will not be returning. We were sat outside near smokers. When we asked the waitress to move us away from the smokers, we were told that the entire restaurant is a smoking-friendly establishment. We were not told this upon entering, nor were we asked for IDs (GA law requires patrons to be 18+ years in smoking establishments). While exiting, I did notice that there were no ashtrays on tables inside and a friend told us she frequently visits and it isn't a smoking establishment. I'm not sure why the group near us was allowed to smoke and why we were told incorrect information, but we've had no desire to return since.

Update: we went back last year (2021) because some friends recommended it. The server came, took our orders & we never saw him again. My husband ordered beer & definitely would have had another but there was no option to ask for anything else. Someone else brought our food and when we asked for the wifi password so our son could play while we finished eating, he said he’d find out & get back to us. We never saw him again. When we were ready to go, we waited around and tried to flag someone down but had no luck. Our toddler started getting fussy so we packed up our stuff, walked inside and asked inside for our bill. When we did this, the servers acted annoyed that we came in and told us that they would have gotten around to us. I kid you not when I say that NOBODY checked on us after one person taking our order and another delivering the food; I feel like we could have jumped the gate & left without paying & nobody would have noticed for at least an hour.

Sorry, I have tried this place twice now & and cannot recommend it due to the poor service we experienced both times. Maybe take out would be our...

Just called to ask a few questions about the Mother’s Day buffet. I was making reservations online when I discovered I’d have to pay upfront and no refunds will be given for any reason. So before spending $200 I needed to ask a few questions. First time I called I started to talk and he put me on hold for 10 mins. I hung up and called back. When I mentioned I’d been on hold for 10 mins he just stated that it was lunch and they were very busy. I can appreciate that, just ask if I can call back, but now he had an attitude. I asked if I had to pay for a 2 year old, he’s super picky and doesn’t eat $15 worth of food. He stated, “if they eat, they pay” I said that he was 2 and doesn’t eat hardly anything, he stated (“a guy called yesterday that had a 1 yr old and I told him the same thing, if they eat, they pay” and he laughed. I felt like I was more of a bother than a customer. I just said thanks and hung up. I had more questions but he didn’t seem to want to hear them. I understand that you probably have enough people coming Sunday, that I may be insignificant, but I would also be coming back. Makes me sad because now we’ll be looking for somewhere else to spend our Mother’s Day. One of the other questions I was going to have is that the only tables that were showing available were outside. But it’s supposed to rain and it said the money was nonrefundable. But I didn’t get a chance to...

We went to McCrays Tavern because we had a promo. Thankfully, it wasn’t overly crowded and we were seated right away. We ordered the fried Brussel sprouts w/crispy bacon & goat cheese ($11) to start. My husband ordered The Classic (hamburger $15) & I ordered the fried Grouper sammie ($15). Brussel sprouts have a very loud, acidic finish, so, you really need to figure out a way to mitigate that. For my taste, the sprouts should have had a fig drizzle or dipping sauce or a balsamic glaze to counteract the acid. I couldn’t discern any bacon, and the tablespoon of goat cheese added nothing. The hamburger ($15) is cooked on a griddle (like at McDonald’s) and my husband said it was just ok. The fried Grouper sammie ($15) was tasty, but since it’s served on a brioche bun, I couldn’t really taste it. I had to remove the top bun to get a sense of what the fish tasted like. Our server was friendly and efficient. We never had to wait for him or ask him twice for anything! Overall, the food was at a “C” for me. I want to add that my pet peeve is drink menus that DONT have prices! I’m FAR less likely to order a mixed drink if you can’t (or won’t) disclose what it F-ing thing costs.

What a bummer of an evening. Party of 7 was sat immediately. Ordered two pretzels for the table, they came out hot and fresh. Ordered a southwest bowl with chicken, pulled pork sandwich with sweet potato fries, Cobb salad with salmon, cheese burger, rigatoni with shrimp, Caesar salad with chicken, and a salad with shrimp. Waited a long time for the food. Place was not packed. No one running around. Drinks were never refilled. Pulled pork and fries were cold. Not room temp, cold. Rigatoni (15 noodles) had an $8 up charge for shrimp, there were 3. It was cold. Burger, cold- the once melted cheese had already begun to coagulate. Salads were good. Can’t imagine how long the food sat before it arrived to our table. Nasty. Spoke with waitress and manager. Pulled pork and rigatoni were taken off the bills, along with $10 off each bill (2 total). After spending over an hour and a half at the tavern, and having such a terrible food experience- we should have had to pay for anything other than the salads. Bathrooms had not been attended to. The place has potential with its pristine location, beautiful decor, and ample seating both inside and out. We will not return.
