Very disappointing experience. We went in for an early lunch, and the service was terrible. The food took an hour to get to us. We were patient and know it gets busy, so we ordered an appetizer. After around 30 minutes of waiting, we asked the waitress, who had hardly checked on us, if our appetizer was still coming out. She questioned us as if we had never placed an order for it at all, and started fumbling through her notebook for our order, finally agreeing that we had ordered it. She had very clearly forgotten to put the order in, and went off to expedite it. The appetizer arrived at the same time as our food, defeating the whole point of ordering it for a starter. At this point, we had been waiting for a hour. One of the orders was wrong after being very explicit about what we were ordering, so they removed to plate. Logically, you would think they would be correcting the order. After another 20 minutes of waiting, I asked her how long it will take to get the correct order, and she says “oh you wanted me to make a change for your order?”. So she had not corrected it, nor had the new order been put in. To add insult, she insinuated that we were to blame for her mistake, and had to “ask her manager if she could change the order”. Meanwhile, everyone else is eating as I wait for the correct order to arrive. 30 minutes later, I get my food after everyone else is near finishing. The manager brings the food out, and I asked for a to go tray for it because everyone already ate. She asked me if I wanted anything on my burger because we didn’t say we wanted anything and my wife said yes because the waitress didn’t ask us if we wanted anything on ours or how we wanted our burgers cooked. She replied asking my wife if we would like anything on our burgers in a very rude tone. It was a terrible experience and we are still sitting here thinking about how bizarre that whole lunch was. A total inconvenient and unpleasant experience…2 1/2 hours of my life I will...

3 adult dinners, we ordered on line, drove to store, picked up dinners. The cavete is they never called or told us at time we ordered that they ran out of mashed potatoes, pinto beans & sawmill white gravy !! Oh really, & the one mashed potatoes they managed was obviously so dry we had to use a rubber spatula to scrape together a portion for 1 serving, which was crusty & yellow & so dry that needed scraped off like a sun burn from the container so some half & half could be added to the dry lump for moisture, & no white gravy at all !That is the chicken fried chicken. The country fried steak dinner didn't have pinto beans & no country white gravy & no mashed potatoes ! The meatloaf dinner seems be normal, but haven't tasted it yet. What the is going on here ?
Upon arriving to pick our dinners up, we were told that they had run out of country white gravy & pinto beans & mashed potatoes ! So out desperation we had to quickly fix Cracker Barrels surprise as were there picking up food. Why would a restaurant send out its dinners requiring country white gravy, 2 of them! Whats going on here ? It suffices to say we asked for some brown gravey fill out our loss of white gravy & for the pinto beans we picked macaroni & cheese & for this dinner they ran out of mashed potatoes, it was replaced with dumplings. What a hot mess this order is !

Read moreI've been going to Cracker Barrel for years. Usually the same location. The food is always good and the prices are very good as well. Their service staff is well trained, friendly and efficient. One complaint, and this maybe a corporate or a regional decision by some bean counter - I get their Momma's pancake breakfast, where you get 3 large pancakes. They give you one of their small bottles of syrup, which is just not enough for pancakes of that size. For the past year I am told that it is a big deal for the server to get another bottle when I request 2 instead of just the one. Sometimes they bring me more syrup in a little plastic cup, and sometimes the server figures out how to get me another small bottle. This takes up extra time and inconvenience for everyone. At least half the time the server, when they bring the food does not have the extra bottle with them and now has to remember to go back and get one, or fill that little cup with apologies that they can't get another bottle. It seems to me that either a regional manager, or some bean counter at corporate ran some numbers and said if we can reduce people using twice the amount of syrup at each location, times the number of locations, look how much more profit would fall to our bottom line. Customer service should always be the #1 priority. Always. The profits will always be there if you take care of your customer. One other small thing that is an irritant. The utensils come in a brown paper sleeve. Again, about a year ago, they eliminated putting a spoon in there for someone's coffee. They bring the spoon when you order coffee. Usually. When asked about that we were told two stories. One that the spoons are frequently stolen by customers, and second, that the people who clean the tables often lose them! Both seem implausible to me. Again, a small thing irritant that can...
