My fiancé and I enjoyed our meal. He had the pancake breakfast platter ( he subbed his regular pancake for the cinna-yum pancake), and I had the shrimp and grits with a large French toast casseroles I gave 4 stars for overall experience for 2 reasons. #1, the shrimp and grits were good, but as they got cool, the grits became very watery. They could have already been that way, and I didn't really notice because it was nice and hot, but I did notice once it cooled down. I was hoping the grits would have tightened up some once cooled some, but they never did.. but again, the flavors were good. #2, I read on some reviews that the French toast casserole lacked in flavor but was ok and some reviews that it was delicious. I had to try it because I love a good French toast and a good casserole, so seeing the name combined, I had to try it. After trying it, I agree with the reviews that said it lacked flavor or a WOW factor. It was actually kind of dry and did lack flavor even though it was topped with a little syrup and carmel sauce, which really surprised me. It just tasted like challah bread slices with a taste of cinnamon in the middle. I had to kind of drown the piece I cut in order to soften the bread. I'm not saying that it was bad, though. It just lacked that POP that WOW you would think you'd get when reading French toast casserole. I tried his pancake, and it was good, and so was his bacon and fried potatoes. My server Andrea was super sweet and very attentive, which I appreciate in service in a place that mainly works on tips, and she earned hers. The atmosphere was good and the place was clean and cute..smaller them what I was expecting so I'm sure they're PACKED on the weekends..all in all, we will definitely be going back because there are a few things left on their menu we'd...
Read moreUPDATE!!!! - The manager reached out to me through my previous review and I'm so glad that she did. I had made up my mind that I wasn't going back after that experience. But she invited me and my best friend back out to give it another shot. She took the time to come and sit and talk with us while our meal was being prepared. She was very sincere in her concern about the previous experience. it was nice to see that she actually cared. Needless to say the food was scrumptiously, delicious! We received our meals nice and hot. The grits with their new recipe was so good that my best friend gobbled them down in a few seconds...lol. Everything was as I remembered it from my very first visit but even better. The new look on the inside was nice as well, it was brighter and had more life in it. With a new staff and new decor I'd definitely recommend Oy! to family and friends and all who would like to enjoy a good breakfast any time of the day. Thank you Management! PREVIOUS REVIEW - My 1st time here everything was amazing! Customer service, the food! Today I'm very disappointed!!! We had to wait forever for our food. Then it came out in sections. First our eggs, potatoes and bacon which were cold. Then grits came about five minutes later, cold. Then came our pancakes about another five minutes later, cold! The coffee was cold...I don't know what was going on. The management blamed the waitress, saying she was new. That should've never had happen. Management takes responsibility for their store and should never push the blame. Needless to say we were not happy customers! And the water cups were so small that one sip and it was gone. Must be new management and employees from...
Read moreI saw this place on the social media post and had to try it! A friend and I went to the Cumberland location around 12:30pm on a Sunday for the first time. Upon entering, I could see that the place really wasn’t that big, and the high ceilings/acoustics made all the conversations around the place sound so loud. The decor was nice, though. There was a 45 minute wait. the restaurant is small so I can see how it gets full quickly. There were quite a few other people waiting outside as well, so I figured the hype on the social media post must’ve been accurate. While we waited; we stopped in the really nice bakery at the end of the strip mall. (I might try their breakfast one day.) once seated and our food arrived everything looked good. We didn’t get the giant pancakes that everybody talks about and we could see certain GUEST had ordered. The food was OK. Neither of us were crazy about our orders. My friend ordered a BLT with fries and I ordered it bacon eggs, grits, and turkey sausage. She enjoyed her BLT and seasoned fries. I really did not like the turkey sausages. They had no flavor and the consistency was spongy and dry. They reminded me of budget hotel breakfast sausages. The grits were plain. For a place that specializes in breakfast foods. I was bit disappointed. Our waiter was very attentive and visible initially, but around the time that we were finishing up and we did order a check we couldn’t find him. Then I noticed he purposely standing out of view behind the counter. My friend had to get up and leave our table to go get him. If I go again, I’ll try the giant pancakes everybody talks about, but I doubt I...
