First of all, I want to give a shoutout to Marriott Bonvoy. I mistakenly booked a hotel for the night prior to us actually needing it. I used points. When I realized my mistake the day the reservation had us to arrive, I called and spoke with someone at the property. While they didn't have a room available the next night, she did give me the info on another nearby Marriott property that had availability. I was able to book the correct night at the last minute and was thankful for the tip. Rooms were few and far between as there was a major concert in the area and most hotels were sold out. Also assumed that I had lost all the original points I used for my original booking since I had canceled, LITERALLY, 5 hours before the reservation was to be. Nope, Marriott Bonvoy refunded my points within 2 days. Great customer service! Now, onto the Fairfield Vinings. I could not have been happier with this hotel! It was clean, well maintained, and well staffed. The staff that we interacted with were all cheerful and helpful. We were able to get early check in and our room was ready well before the time we had specified. The room was clean, AC was cold, bathroom was well-stocked, even the toilet paper was curled into a little flower! The room was large and well laid out. Everything seemed modern and up to date. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. Check in and check out were a breeze. We were concerned about transit to the venue as we were no longer within walking distance. However, this Fairfield provides a free shuttle service. Even though the shuttle typically shuts down about 10pm-11pm, we had let the driver know that we would probably be getting out later than that. He gave us his card and told us to give a call when we needed him to come pick us up. There were several people at the hotel that were going to the same concert, so this was an incredibly useful service and benefit, considering that parking around the venue ranged from $10-$60. The free breakfast offered by the hotel was so much more than just a continental breakfast. It is buffet style so you can choose what you want and eat as much as you want. There are hot and cold choices, eggs and meat, waffles and fruit, bagels and toast, cereal and juice, something for everyone. The free shuttle and the free breakfast make Fairfield a hotel chain that should always be on your list of considerations. If you have any event or business at The Battery or Truist Park or the Convention Center, this hotel is convenient and much less crowded than those nearer to The Battery area. While not within walking distance of those landmarks, the shuttle makes it a convenient and quick trip. I was extremely impressed with everything about this hotel and it was one of the best experiences I have had at a hotel in a while. I would not hesitate to stay at Fairfield Atlanta...
Read moreIt's sad to say but the Marriott brand hotels are beginning to become my least favorite chain. They use to be my absolute favorite. We checked in online using partial reward points. Arrived at the hotel, Anna the desk person was extremely rude. She tried to over charge us, couldn't answer simple questions about the rate she was quoting me, didn't acknowledge our elite status, wouldn't allow me to change room type, took over an hour to check in because I had to call customer service, they called her and she still was trying to overcharge us for our rooms which had already been paid for. I knew more information about the process than she did. I asked her when manager would be in she indicated Monday but there was a front desk supervisor on duty the next morning. I requested and it's in my profile to be on a high floor and away from the elevator. Anna put both our rooms directly next to the elevator one on each side. Then advised us they were sold out and there was nothing she could do but I saw her help another couple with kids switch their rooms later that evening. We couldn't get an extra blanket, one of the rooms the sheets were badly stained and room smelled like vinegar. We didn't get any sleep bc of the noise from the elevator plus the boys basketball teams that were running around all night. Breakfast was a disaster we went down around 830 breakfast is over at 10. Almost every table was filthy, there was no eggs, no oatmeal, bread was gone, no freak fruit, etc it was as if it was 950 and they were closing. We decided to leave without eating and just end the nightmare and hit the road. The whole point of stopping at the hotel was to rest during our drive. That never happened. We will never grace this hotel again and in the future probably won't use Marriott hotels as our first choice. Nothing was done to address the issues we had. Thry have 100% satisfaction guarantee but they still charged us and we weren't even...
Read moreWhere can I can begin. ||||1. I contacted the front desk to let them know my guest was arriving before we were. They stated in a matter-of-fact tone to go through a few different hoops outside of the norm. My wife ended up calling to clear the confusion and the employee instantly handed the call to a manager. My wife apologized several times and resolve it quickly. We ended up adding the guest to the check in list and it was fine. They proceeded to give our family a hard time at check in. Our guest did not have any issues at all during her whole stay.||2. There was a red salamander that came up through the pipes of the 6th floor of the tub shower. The tub was missing it's tub cap. My son was excited to see it and name it, Izzo, stayed with us rent free for 2 days. ||3. When we all left in the morning to explore Atlanta, there housekeeping or other staff would open the door and prop it open with the deadbolt. On the second night I called the front desk to inform them that this is not a coincidence. A one night reservation date sure, but I had again asked the front desk to combine our 2 reservations so we wouldn't have to change rooms. They left the door open 2 days in a row, the most unprofessional and a violation of security.||4. On the second evening, we got take out and ate dinner in the lobby with our guest, and the front desk continually gave us glaring eyes while we picked up after our children and threw away all the trash and wiped down the table. They starred we took the back way back to the elevators. ||5. On the day of checkout we got a wake up call at 5am with we did not request it.||||My family and I will not stay at this hotel again. The front desk staff, management, and housekeeping did not do what they were supposed to do to make their guests feel welcomed and secure. I would give it 0...
