Absolutely delicious! We were traveling from Jacksonville back to Savannah and saw the sign on I95 so we decided to stop, we had been talking about wanting BBQ for a couple of weeks so we went to try it out! Teresa was our server and she was super nice! Everyone was social distanced and employees all had on masks. We decided to share the Sonny Sampler and we got fried pickles and loaded tots. I've honestly never had better loaded tots anywhere. They were absolutely delicious, perfectly crispy (I hate soggy tots) even the sauce covered ones! The onions on them were crispy and so delicious. The fried pickles were also delicious and crispy! The Sonnys sampler included a nice mound of pulled pork, 4 slices of brisket, 2 giant ribs,1/4 chicken (we got white meat so it was a wing and breast) along with 2 sides (we went with beans and coleslaw) and a peice of yummy garlic bread. They have all their sauces in a little caddy that is brought to the table so we tried them all of course, they were all really good but our favorite was the sweet. We were completely stuffed and needed a nap after eating all of that! It was so so good though!! Next time we go down I95 we will certainly be stopping by for another meal! Hopefully Teresa is working again, she was the best :)

Stopped by Sonny’s BBQ 03/07/21 at 1:00pm for a quick lunch during our road trip home. First we stepped inside to get a table, but once we walked in we realized there was no way we were going to get seated soon. We walk out then decided we would just order to go plates so we walk in the to go side and placed our order. They started off by saying how they were out of ribs, seriously? My wife and I just ended up ordering pulled pork bbq plates. This leads me to why I’m leaving the review is due to the pulled pork portion. Please refer to the photo to see what I’m talking about. This was the same portion for both of our plates. We did get two pieces of garlic toasts in each of our plates, I suppose that was their way of making of for it. If that is a normal pulled pork portion that is pitiful. The biggest thing is they didn’t mention about being low on bbq or communicate anything. If I had to guess they figured since it was a to go order they could get away with giving away a smaller portion. Anyways, I hate to leave a bad review because I’d imagine most of the Sonny’s BBQ locations are pretty good but my experience at the Brunswick location was not good.

Haven’t been to Sonny’s in God knows how long but my wife has been mentioning bbq for a few weeks now. My first thought was Gary Lee’s but they were closed today so we have Sonny’s a chance. I was extremely bummed about the salad bar being gone but, they couldn’t control that due to Covid-19. I gave it 3 stars because 1. The food gets a star, it was fresh when it came out (excluding our daughter’s French fries) and the quality wasn’t bad. 2. Our server was nice and attentive which is always nice. However, the place was just overall dirty. The left side of the restaurant seemed not to be getting sat and it was very cramped and crowded where they sat us. Not full of people but dirty tables to look at while we tried to eat our own food. Giving the servers no choice but to sat the trays with the fresh food onto the dirty tables to hand out. We couldn’t just sit there and enjoy our food without staring down dirty tables so we quickly ate enough took the rest to go and scrammed. Don’t think we’d be returning! Sucks cause we grew up coming to this place. At least I got to see Mr. Earl who still works there after all this time! That’s all.

Ooooh nelly, we had a rough time here. We are currently driving back from Orlando and decided to stop and have a nice sit down dinner before another long leg of driving. We sat down right after another family who walked in in front of us. There was a large family seated next to us and they looked super annoyed. Apparently, they were trying to get the check and had been there for 3 hrs. Our server came over and took our order. That's at 7:05. I got my beer at 7:15 no food. At 7:30 my husband hadn't gotten his lemonade and we still didn't have food. The other family that walked in at the same time signalled their waitress for their check. 7:40 no food still and the other family was paying and leaving. At that point I asked the hostess where the manager was, call me a karen if you want but on a 15 hour drive I can't spend 3 hours in a restaurant. The manager came over. I explained we can't hang out for 3 hours and asked if someone could help the waitress as she seemed overwhelmed. The manager agreed and went to speak to the waitress, who started screaming in the pass and then walked out. The manager then came and told us that our food wasn't even in aside from 1 entree...... she got us another waitress and they got us food in about 10 minutes. So over an hour for food at a place that also has a drive thru window..... The food was decent. Service was better after we got a waitress that actually wanted to be a waitress. But it's gotta be management, when the hostess sat us she walked three adults to a table with 2 chairs and then dropped the silverware and walked away we actually grabbed a chair from a different table for my father in law. Order take out , skip the...

I had high hopes for this play after seeing so many reviews on Google and a good rating. Usually, that's a good sign to me when trying a restaurant for the first time. Unfortunately, this wasn't that case. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars is because my waitress was good, and it was cheap, so I'm not so upset.

My waitress was great, and the restaurant seemed clean, but that's where the positive experience ended. I've been to BBQ and smokehouse restaurants all around the country, and this had to be one of the worst I can remember ever being to. The food reminded me of cafeteria food TBH. The "smoked" chicken wings were chewy, the brisket was dry, the mac and cheese had ZERO flavor, and it tasted like it was made with artificial cheese, and the string beans tasted like they were fresh, from can to table. Most BBQ and smokehouse restaurants I go to, I barely like to pit BBQ sauce on my flood because I want to taste the goof smoke flavor, at this place, I had to flood everything with sauce to make it somewhat enjoyable.

I have never been to a BBQ/smokehouse restaurant where ALL the food was so bland. Even the "famous" sweet tea was bad, something that is a staple for the south. It tasted like horrible. The only thing that had good flavor was the cornbread, but make sure you have a glass of water because it was DRY. Two of the BBQ sauces were pretty good, which is important because you will need it!

How this restaurant received so many 5-star reviews is a mystery to me. I would not recommend this to anyone unless your main goal is to have...
