I’m writing to express my disappointment following a recent visit to Cracker Barrel. While our server was friendly and did her best, the overall service and food quality fell well below expectations.
When our food arrived, several items were missing—including toast, syrup, chicken and dumplings, eggs, and sausage gravy and biscuits. We pointed out the omissions, and while some items eventually came after a 5–7 minute wait, the sausage gravy and biscuits never arrived, despite being part of a meal we were charged for.
The food that did arrive was also poor in quality. The hash brown casserole was dry and had cold spots, as if it had just come from the refrigerator. I also ordered two blueberry pancakes, which I was told were included with my meal, but I was charged an additional $5.99. To make matters worse, they were completely raw in the center. I took one bite and could taste uncooked batter, which upon looking, could be seen throughout . The second pancake was no better. When I informed the server, she encouraged me to have them remade, which I eventually agreed to but was not excited to wait for new food when everyone in my party was nearing the end of their meals.
The manager accompanied the server to the table to bring the new pancakes, and I asked for a to-go box since my family had already finished eating.
It had been a long day of traveling, and though my family suggested going somewhere else, I insisted we go to Cracker Barrel because I’ve always associated it with comfort, quality, and consistency. Unfortunately, that is not the experience we had today. My husband left saying he doesn’t want to return again and I don’t blame him. Eating out has become very expensive and it feels like a waste when such a disappointing...
Read moreI came from out of town to pick up my daughter, who lives in the area. It was my first time at this location. Laquelle..I know I spelled it wrong. So excuse me girl. She could have been a little more considerate and charismatic. Anyhow, she complained, saying she was clocked out and wasn't even done being our waitress because she still hadn't given us silverware or our first drink refill. She also complained about having to serve my daughter (15 years old), who arrived later than I expected because she was coming from Savanah. The kitchen gave my husband a bloody steak when he asked for it to be well done. And told me they were out of carrots after the food was out on the table with no silverware. Then she left us waiting for about 5 minutes without silverware. I could hear her complaining from the kitchen. Thank God she at least brought us one refill before she left because my original glass was empty. Honestly, I was turned off when she became annoyed about my daughter arriving then she didn't even bother asking my child if she would like something quick so we wouldn't have to drive another one hour and half back to our destination without her eating.
I'm sorry if you had a bad day or was tired. But you don't even know what our day was like, either. I wish you could have been kinder. I was also bothered that my husband was given a bloody steak and he never eats them like that. He ate it because he didn't want to complain I just hope he doesn't get sick. And no I wasn't going to send it back because she obviously didn't have time for us.
Management should have a good relationship with employees so everything runs smooth. This experience was like being on...

Short Version of review: Skip this Cracker Barrel and go to the next nearest one.
Long Version: After having one of the best dining experiences at a Cracker Barrel in Johnson City, the law of averages caught up with us and we had a terrible experience here in Georgia. Very slow service with a waitress that appeared to be very flustered despite the 4 star apron she was rocking. Our orders were mixed up at several different points during our dining experience. They be brought out sweet tea for someone who ordered water, brought the wrong salad dressings, and left out a side during the entree portion. I can't speak for everyone else at my table but the cheese grits I got for a side were very soupy and bland. The rest of the food seemed ok.
When the cashier asked how our experience was I gave them the honest answer. Her response was "chocolate always makes things better!" I just laughed it off because I wasn't feeling particularly confrontational and just wanted to get back on the road home but on the inside I was saying "no ma'am the last thing I want to do is spend any more money at this store." What a lame response she had to our complaints. Now I get why people seem to overreact in these kinds of situations. If you try to be nice about how disappointed you were it doesn't get you anywhere.
Honestly I wish I...
