Let me preface this by saying I donât think Iâve ever asked for a refund on food/drink in my entire life until this experience. Today, I had both the worst bubble tea (hard, undercooked boba and overly sweet tea even at 75%. I almost spit it out because I was worried it was unsafe to drink and I did feel rather queasy for a few hours afterwards so maybe I shouldnât have swallowed that sip) AND the worst customer service experience. After I tried my drink, I called and told them their boba was undercooked and the employee told me that was impossible. They had apparently cooked the boba according to the package instructions earlier that day. I told him the texture was off and it tasted bad. He told me that was impossible and the texture was fine. I argued it wasnât and asked for a refund. He told me they donât offer refunds. I said Iâd bring the drink back and he said it wouldnât matter because they donât issue refunds at all. So, I told him Iâd discuss this with him in person. I walked back in and put the completely full drinks on the counter and asked for a refund because the boba was undercooked. He once again argued that it was fine. I asked him what the texture of the boba should be and he said âchewyâ and I told him the boba was hard. He said it wasnât. We went back and forth about this and then I finally asked if he had tried it himself. He said no! I insisted he needed to try it if he was going to argue that it wasnât undercooked and the texture was okay. He told me ânoâ several times that he didnât want to taste the boba (odd?). He finally did taste the boba and he still insisted the boba was chewy. I looked at him and said âAre you sure?â and told him he should call his manager. He told me the manager would be out of town for a month but eventually got him on the phone. They did issue a refund. I do not understand this employees insistence on wasting everyoneâs time and attempting to deny me a refund that took thirty seconds to accomplish. But I have never experienced anything like this before⌠and I have never had an issue coming here until yesterday evening⌠from when I first walked into the facility it felt off. It was extremely hot and awkward silent. There was no music. No one welcoming at the front desk at first. And then he came out. Scratching his head all the way up to the front counter. Mumbles a greeting and just continues to stare. It felt extremely awkward. The interaction lasted a minute or two and the WHOLE time the guy kept reaching under his beanie to intensely scratch his head. Then proceeded touching his face. His eyes were all shifting and bloodshot. I was thinking âoh my word is he going to wash his hands before preparing the drink?â (He DID NOT btw đ¤Ž). I paid and the beeping noise made him jump so high because it startled him⌠I was like 𤨠this guy is acting so weird. Proceeds to scratch his head as he walks away to make the drink. Comes back with his hand covering the top. Hands it to me. And I smile and wish him to have a good day and that was the most normal interaction I had with him up till that point because he smiled a little and said that he would try. We were celebrating my daughter's birthday and, in a hurry, decided to grab a couple of drinks. To save time, we placed our order online. As we waited, we noticed that several people who came after us were getting their drinks before us. We asked about it and the man behind the counter seemed angry and said some people will do anything to scam a place of out of two teas. We were SHOCKED to say the least by his insinuation. We offered to show him our online receipt but he replied that he did not care, the online ordering does not work on his website, but what did we want, he would just give it to us anyway. He acted like he was doing us a favor! We paid $17 for two drinks which is ridiculous in itself!! We could not believe how we were treated! Out of the two drinks we had, one tasted watered down and the other kept separating, the taste was not the norm. Worst customer service we have ever encountered.
