I have apparently been sleeping on big daddy’s. I pass by all the time, but never stopped in. Today the stars align, and I stopped in. I was surprised to see so many options to choose from, I almost held up the line, trying to decide. My eyes were bigger than my stomach, so I almost ordered two different things but I told myself I’ll wait to come in to try something different. The ox tails dressing, okra, cabbage & cobbler were great with cornbread for under $22 is a great deal. The server forgot to give me my gravy and cranberry sauce, which would have helped that dressing. The cornbread had a unique taste so I didn’t finish it, but I was quite full without the cornbread. My food also had a strong black pepper back finish. There was so strong black pepper like taste in my mouth when I ate my peach cobbler, so I had to wait on the dessert until my pallet cleared. You pick one meat and two sides with cornbread is how they structure all of their meals but you can buy à la cart. I would’ve liked a few more smiles on the greeting but no real complaints at all. I can imagine with so many options, there could be someone who try something that they don’t like here while another person try something else and thinks, this place is amazing. Really fast pickup and go because food is already ready in front of you. I can imagine some days they have plenty waste if there is low traffic, but I don’t see low traffic often and I imagine some foods can be put back on the line the next day (not saying they do this). I will be coming back and referring people to this hidden gem. When you pay with credit card, there is no option to tip. I believe they should add that option because you’d be capitalizing on those who can’t tip in cash and automatically think it’s customary to tip as I often do at other places whenever I see the line to tip. Food soo good. Blueberry Cobbler crazy good. Beef Ribs and Lamb great. Cake great. Prices getting up there $83 for two meals, desserts and drinks

Honest review **Check this place out for some soul food TAKE OUT style so pick and choice what you want and the flavor is on point & the jerk chicken falls off the bone (so tender) Fyi if you dine in leave the take out box on the table and the server will come clean the table :)) such a sweet guy There was a nice WELCOME when we came in and already we were excited to eat. (Honestly the first time feeling welcomed in Atlanta ) The place has OPTIONS from fish, pork, turkey, chicken, ox tail, etc haha We were overwhelming by the choices cause everything looked so good. We got classics, the JERK CHICKEN and FRIED CHICKEN, and we were just nodding and eating our hearts out. The only thing that was MEH was the MASH POTATOES cause they were to thick and dry and it tasted like they added flour. Other than that I would say that pinto beans, broccoli w/cheese, and cabbage were FLAVORFUL. We cleared out our plates except the mash potatoes Ooo the YELLOW RICE was goood cause I loved the texture and how it went well with the jerk sauce. I am not a big fan of CORN BREAD, but my friend loved the corn bread hahah (not too sweet or too dry) The SERVERS who were scooping our food together were very nice to explain what they have since it was our first time to their restaurant. There is a lott of seats so just take a seat and there is a server who will bring you hot sauce and napkins. I haven't gone to their restroom, but overall the restaurant was pretty clean and organized. There is a PARKING LOT so don't worry about parking. Taste 9/10 Texture 9/10 Service 9/10 I would definitely recommend this place for some good soul food.

Where do I begin… I was planning a surprise birthday party for my husband at our church and I was looking for good food and excellent service. I was at our church on Old National Hwy when I found Big Daddy’s Dish by googling “soul food restaurants near me”. I called and spoke to Big Daddy who was very nice over the phone. I ended up going to the restaurant (just to check it out and taste the food) where I met Big Daddy and he gave me a tour of the kitchen. The kitchen was VERY clean, organized, and well staffed. Everyone knew what they were doing, wearing gloves, hairnets and SMILES! I was VERY impressed. Big Daddy went out of his way to give me several cakes to sample to make sure the birthday cake was just right! I requested two servers and ordered three types of meats, 4 side dishes, cornbread, two types of beverages, and a birthday cake. Surprising my husband is extremely challenging because we do just about everything together… so, no passwords on our phones or anything like that! Big Daddy communicated with me and was helpful in keeping the party a surprise. On the day of the event, Big Daddy had the food delivered by two members of his staff. They were on time (actually early), professionally dressed, and had great attitudes. They were focused and set up our event in about 20 minutes. Big Daddy’s Dish even provided REAL PLATES & SILVERWARE, NO PAPER! The party was great and everyone enjoyed the food. This entire experience was amazing. We had an amazing experience and we strongly recommend Big Daddy’s Dish!!

I came in to pick up a doordash order on New Year’s Day at about 5pm. The line for doordash pickups was ridiculous. There were 2 orders that were ready, just sitting on the counter so I peeked to see the name on it to see if it was mine. The older female cashier, with a gray hair and a puff ball, had an attitude and told me I couldn’t touch the bags. Well first of all, if y’all had better control over the situation, you wouldn’t be having that problem in the first place. Second, I’m over the f’n attitudes given by the staff at some of these restaurants. You, as a staff member, shouldn’t even LOOK like you have an attitude. It’s not the customers’ fault your establishment is open for business or that you had to come to work. If it weren’t for us you wouldn’t even have a job. Leave your nasty ass attitudes at home! I don’t think Big Daddy’s should partner with food delivery services. Clearly y’all can’t handle it. It shouldn’t have been 10+ people waiting for delivery orders yet y’all had 4 orders sitting on the table waiting to be picked up and no one designated to handle the delivery orders. Horrible service!

Update: My family and I visited Big Daddy's last night and the line was wrapped as usual but that's not the issue. The issue is that there is no type of structure or order. There were about 5 people all bunched up in one area while a whole side was left unattended. The man who was working that side kept walking away, walking in circles and just looking at people crazy. When he FINALLY got to us, he threw my dressing in the container like a pile of slop, then walked away again. As for the other employees, one guy was moving slow and too busy laughing and joking with customers instead of focusing on doing his job, one girl with colored hair walked up while talking on her phone. The macaroni and cheese had enough salt to send someone into cardiac arrest, the caramel cake was nasty and tasted nothing like caramel cake. The broccoli and cheese casserole was not good. Big Daddy's has went downhill significantly. The food and service used to be so good, now it seems like the owner and workers just don't care. I'm surprised it's still open. The food is way too overpriced for such bad service and subpar food. We will...

EVERYTHING ELSE was banging EXCEPT THE RIBS!! But when I say EVERYTHING ELSE was banging I MEEEAN EVERYTHING. ELSE. Was. Banging.

It what's my first time in there and I came with my daughters. I initially thought that we could dine in because that's what I was told when I called in to ask questions about the food and the menu before we arrived, but that was not the time or the atmosphere when we arrived, and I would have felt just a bit awkward (even though we could have ignored everyone else) being the only group of people sitting while everyone else was in line waiting to take their food 'to go'.

Also it was me and my children's first time visiting this place and I did not understand how the flow of things worked (in getting our meals), so initially I was placing my order thinking that we would get 'a little bit of this, and a little bit of that' - not realizing that some things came as a full entree with sides. I caught on as we were going along, but not before the third meal was made, so I explained that it was my first time there and asked if we could change the third meal. The man making my plate (who actually resembled who I believe may be the owner, or the face of the establishment) did indeed oblige my request, but not before inhaling a noticeable deep breath and making a disgruntled face about it which did not make me feel comfortable at all

I could have left, but I didn't want to spoil the evening for my daughters.

To the original Big Daddy's, I apologize for not having that third order straight and asking you to make a new plate, but I was a first-timer - I'm trying to catch on to how things were going as we were going along. I understand you and I'm sorry. I get it - These plates ain't cheap... for either of us actually and so, I do understand you on your end - please try to understand me as a 'first-timer' on mine - I ain't know how it went, my bad I'm catching on as the plates are being made, but I need that last plate to be right because I'm about to pay you $20 for it. Please understand me.

Remember that everyone you serve is not a regular, and try to exercise a little bit more patience for the newcomers that we will want to revisit your...

As a former health inspector, I am completely disgusted with this restaurant. I was at the auto parts store next door and a homeless person asked me for help with food. I was right next door and had never eaten at this restaurant, so I went inside and ordered us both a meal. I noticed how unsanitary this restaurant was. It saddens me even more to know that as a black owned business this business has no conscious or duty to uphold presentation, food quality or sanitation to its customers who are typically from poverty. The very same customers who got you to where you are today. The food was not fresh at all and not stored at appropriate temperatures. I believe this is because the food has been out longer than it should be and the heat from the appropriate temperature the food was supposed to be stored at would make it visibly obvious. Food was lukewarm immediately after being prepared. The chicken literally had feathers on it and the quality of the actual chicken would indicate that the fried chicken had to be made at the minimum of two hours prior to my order. The rice had hair in it, but the rice grains were also not equally cooked. Grains of yellow rice were found in my white rice and that would suggest that the same serving utensil had been used for both products. The mac and cheese had a few hardened shells, being that it is not baked mac and cheese this would also prove the fact and suggest that the dish had been sitting for a few hours. Oddly I noticed a plethora of security cameras behind the counter, but no clean cooler glass. I witnessed employees touch multiple objects, body areas and their faces without changing clothes or washing hands and proceeded to continue their work duties. I will be submitting a complaint to OSHA along with a complaint to the health department. In no way is this an official report of the health department or of any other organization. This is simply my opinion based on the experience I had visiting this establishment and my prior...
