I'm quite disappointed in my attempts to order from you via online... telephone and in- person for the last two weeks with "Steve"
The last straw for me was today as I'm sitting here in the parking lot outside your restaurant on Memorial Dr. writing this email to you.
I've had the displeasure of a few insensitive exchanges with a manager named "Steve" in the Memorial Drive location. I called last week and asked if Brunswick Stew was available and was told "Yes". I advised that it wasn't available for online orders BUT in the past I have been accommodated by ordering the size of the desired item and the substitute could be made as a courtesy.
"Steve" is the first person that was unwilling. He only said 'come on in and we'll make it do what it do"...
I explained that I'm disabled and I could not " come on in".. Steve replied .. "Oh well"
(Huh?) He could've said 'I apologize but were unable to make the accommodation..... ' and it would not been perceived as rude.
I made a second attempt to order Brunswick stew and it was unavailable this day- which was understandable so I ordered bbq chicken instead for delivery through UBER EATS..
I made a third attempt to get stew. I called and got "Steve" again today and he advised that stew was available. I asked can I make a phone order as Im disabled andunable to walk inside the restaurant". ?
He said "no phone orders". I advised that I was headed in that direction... I'd pull into a spot at the entrance. "Is there at least a curbside pick up if I order from the parking lot? Steve's response was:
" Find somebody to come inside for you"?
( What?!) Again with the insensitivity.
As hard as it was.... I was able to go get my children who just got out of school to accompany me to the establishment since no one had practice this evening- for a change
We arrived and I sat in the car outside as they went in to place my order. No stew.... damn. I told my children I only came for the Brunswick stew. I didn't want anything else... I told them let's just leave. But before leaving ask for the process to "raise a concern".
They were repeatedly told talk to "Steve or "Sierra". I advised that I would just prefer a card or a number for corporate. They refused to give my children either.
When they returned to the car I called inside to the restaurant and asked for either " Steve or Sierra" and Steve answered. I explained that I've been a satisfied, long-time customer since 2004 and I've never had such an experience with THIS IS IT- at any of the locations.
I've used your catering and ordered platters for events through managers Seaton and Derrick in the past years and both gentlemen were always consummate professionals.
I expressed my disdain with this particular experience. I traveled from Smoke Rise, Georgia per his (Steve's) instruction just for stew and no matter what I asked he was unwilling to make any accommodation.
Then I did exactly as he instructed with "help" and still nothing....
Steve said: "Next time you come we'll have someone bring your food to the car"
(What?!)
Steve said the store was getting busy and hung up in my face.
I'm so disappointed in the treatment I've received from this one individual in your organization. I've been a loyal , very satisfied customer. Every other time I've been to any of your establishments. I've Even brought family members from out of town as far away as Los Angeles to share the experience.
If this was just a bad day.... I'd chalk it up but Steve has been downright insensitive and extremely rude from jump. As a disabled person this was just disheartening. My disability was a barrier put between me and common decency.
I'm truly disappointed in my experience with "Steve". He represented your entire organization very poorly. I was...
Read moreAwful experience yesterday for my family and me!!!! We had a craving for soul food. So we headed to This Is It on Memorial Drive. We entered the restaurant and waited in line to order. So right before the people finished ordering there food. The young lady taking walked away from the counter and smacked her lips and loudly stated man I'm ready to go home. Came back to take our order 1 minute later. She came back with a serious attitude problem. My wife and myself didn't say anything to her we just talked about it amongst ourselves. So we get to the end of the line to pay for our food. Pay for the food sat down at the table waiting for the waitress to bring out food. I would like to point out the food we ordered was already ready and prepared on the line we did not order anything that was cooked to order. So after 10 minutes I asked the waitress to check on our order. So I noticed a small confrontation between a waitress and one of the people in charge on the line. So I went up and told the guy that she was inquiring about our food and he told her he had a line of people that he had to take care of first. So I pointed out to him no not trying to inconvenience anybody but I ordered my food 10-15 minutes ago and that our food was not cooked to order it's right there on the line all somebody got to do is fix the plates and we can start eating. So he said okay sir I got you I got you sir. 2 minutes later we had our food the whole time I was eating the young lady who mouth off the statement earlier had a serious attitude problem with other customers. Who wants to deal with that type of stuff when they come somewhere to go eat sit down enjoy the meal and the time with a family. This is my problem I have with a lot of black establishments they want the support of the black community and I want to support them but I don't want to spend my money where I got to deal with an attitude problem and somebody who don't want to do their job. Now I probably should have talked to a manager about the whole situation but I felt like what good would it do it will be a waste of time so maybe this review online will get their attention. Wasn't looking for any discount handouts or anything free I just wanted a great experience to go along with a great meal for my family and myself. This has happened before in the past that will probably be my last experience in outing to any this is it location. The food is great but the attitude of the staff sucks. They also need to work on getting people that food quickly as possible especially the food that is already prepared and ready on the line I can understand about the cook to order we all know cooked-to-order you get your food that's fresh and it takes a little bit longer but that's the whole point of cooked to order. I really hope they improve on their customer service and be more efficient getting people that food in a timely manner and get rid of the attitude problem if you don't want to be at work go home nobody wants to hear you smacking your lips a rolling your eyes or your neck and have an attitude with people that's paying their...
Read moreI've been coming here since the 1990s since my favorite Hodges, the original was closed at the because of evil business practices. The atmosphere has always been good here. Things here recipe related have improved. Service-wise, it is hit and miss. The line tends to move fast. On 10/17/2017, a female assistant manager had lied to me about replacing my macaroni and cheese as three sides in-person when I returned to get that side replaced. She said differently over the phone. I continued to come here since then until about 2023. This place likes to short you on your sides. I've seen it enough, so you are advised from me to tell the servers to fill up the empty spaces on your plate. You're paying for it. The fried catfish is the closest to the recipe I long to have. The rice is sometimes crunchy (sitting under the lamp too long) but mostly have been fresh and soft. It pairs well with the baked fish. I suspect that the collards are from bags, not freshly picked, or are canned with a weird smoky flavor. The neckbones are not properly cleaned; they have glands (round, grayish in color) and marrow on them. I clean raw neckbones, so, yes, those are glands. The corn muffins are hit and miss. The chitterlings are pre-cleaned, but needs to be checked for pig hair which I've found a few times from here. The cole slaw is good. The banana pudding tastes like sugar and has no banana flavor. I had a sample of it one night. The rib tips are hit and miss; sometimes, they are rock hard and not tender. I avoid the barbecue chicken breasts because the meat is sawdust in texture and is hardened every time I had it. The grilled chicken wings are okay. The sweetened tea is okay. The macaroni and cheese, the cabbage, and the soufflé are my favorite sides. I have not tried every available meat or side. Assuming the quality of the food has not changed since my last time here, I think you'll like whatever you...
