Beautiful location. We wanted to sit outside, so we entered the outside area, and the hostess started screaming at us to back up because we walked too far into the outdoor area without her sacred permission. That's a major red flag if I've ever seen one, and based on the reviews I've seen, it seems like we weren't the only ones who have fallen victim to their screaming.
The live music was great. However, it was too loud, so the server couldn't hear us that well. They had burritos that had various vegetables in it, but I wanted to order a simple burrito with just rice and beans. The other burritos have rice and beans in them already, so it should have been a simple ask, but no, they can't do that. Instead, I had to order a veggie burrito and ask them to remove each individual vegetable individually to get my simple rice and bean burrito. The waitress was able to do that and confirmed to me all the substitutions I asked for. I also informed them I have a severe allergy to watch out for.
When I got the burrito, I found that they did not follow my request. Thankfully, none of my allergens were in the burrito, but it's still a real problem that they did not pay attention to an order with an allergy. We were finally able to get it fixed but had to wait.
Rice was pretty dry, and the beans were cooked well but pretty plain. Standard burrito. Reminds me of Baja Fresh.
The queso sauce they have is very thick, like glue, and I would recommend avoiding it.
Guacamole is a scam. We asked for the Guacamole appetizer. On the menu, it's listed for 7.99, and the picture shows a nice bowl of guacamole served with a good number of chips. What we got was a tiny little dip cup of guacamole, smaller than what you would get at Chipotle, with a single chip sticking out. It looks nothing like the picture on the menu and is very misleading. The guacamole tasted fine, almost like something you can buy prepackaged. I've seen other reviews saying they give you store bought guac when you get takeout, so maybe they use the same for dine in but present it a bit nicer? Either way, 7.99 for this is a complete rip-off.
Ended up being about 25 dollars a person in the end, not worth it to me, so we will be finding alternatives on our next visit to the wonderful shores of...
Read moreI would like to give a shoutout to Jorge for their exceptional service. They were on top of everything the service was fast , friendly, and on spot with a glorious views from the tiki outdoor seating. It was alittle chilly but they turned on heaters so it was pleasant. As you can see from the pictures 📷 the views were devine. As I walked up from the large parking lot to handle a large crowd I see a sign on the side door that made me chuckle. " In dog beers, I have only had one". 🤣 For a restaurant to have this kind of humor before entering I knew this was going to be fun. I walked up the sidewalk to see a large tiki hut with thatch roof, lots seating, a very long wood bar spanning the full length horizontally, and quite a view. I felt like I was on a island in the Caribbean about to be served under a tiki hut. Jekyll Island is just this a quiet Caribbean Island on the shores of Georgia. As I came up I was greeted by Jorge to join him at the bar. I immediately saw the carved coconut 🥥head and had to start with a drink with a straw from it. 😋 after looking over the menu I settled on the chicken Enchiladas with rice and beans for my gluten intolerance. The food was delicious and I enjoyed the black beans. After throughly enjoying the meal while listening to the beach ⛱and view. Unfortunately, no gluten free dessert but I loved the fried plantains as a great substitute. As I got finished I went to explore the inside of the restaurant. I was greeted by SJ who is from my hometown living the dream working there. We had a great chat telling me the history of the restaurant. If you go through the pictures you will see tables with views of the golf course on one side and beach on the other. On the opposite side of the restaurant is the bar where live music is playing. The group is really good and been together for years. They have traveled all over the world but doing what they love here in their older years just to bring smiles to guest that come through. No matter what if you come here you are guaranteed a good time. I highly recommend this restaurant and tell them I sent...
Read moreVisited today for lunch and we were greeted by a nice young lady hostess and were given our choice of where to sit, which was nice. We sat outside under the pavilion by the bar, in view of the ocean. Our waitress arrived promptly and was friendly, brought chips and salsa and took our drink orders. The salsa was fine, although it was a bit plain tasting. I ordered two chicken tacos with beans and rice and my wife ordered chicken fajitas. Our food came out pretty quickly. My food looked good, everything was a good temperature. However, when I picked up my tacos, a lot of liquid drained out of them. This started to make the flour tortilla very soggy. I thought it was odd that the lettuce was leafy greens, and not shredded, that’s kind of weird to put in a taco. There was a lot of chicken in the taco and it was pretty tasty. The rice and beans were good too. My wife’s Fajitas came out on a typical “fajita” platter but they were not sizzling at all and didn’t have any grilled/blackened bits on them (typical with fajitas), so I am not sure what cooking method they use. They were served with 3 flour tortillas, rice, a little pile of leafy greens (odd), a dollop of sour cream and the tiniest portion of pico de gallo (barely enough for one fajita). While there was plenty of chicken, it was a little bit dry, my wife had to ask for more pico to make the last one more palatable. Overall it was decent visit; the waitress was very nice but she didn’t check on us after our food came out and we were in need of more Pico de gallo. When she did check on us, it was near the end of our meal. There were a lot of birds (grackles) that kept flying around wanting everybody’s food. There are beams in the pavilion that allow the birds to sit directly above customers and one actually pooped on a ladies shoulder. The hostess was busy cleaning (spraying down) the tables once they were cleared. Major turn off was the 3.5% fee for using credit cards. I wish I would have known that because when I know this ahead of time, I...
