If you're wanting bagels, come here. It's that simple. When you walk in, your met with a very cozy, small, intimate space that would be perfect for a late night coffee rendezvous, though sadly that is not an option here haha. The whole area is clean, you can look in the back and see equipment and products are well maintained. "No freezer on sight, either," we were informed. I got the Nova, with the Lox cream cheese. My partner made his own bagel with eggs (western style), bacon, and pepper jack cheese on a cheddar jalapeño bagel. Normally, we would get Einsteins, but today my partner wanted us to get something different, and now we can't go back. Not with the quality of food and customer service- Bagels N Bialys blew our minds! The fish was so tasty, without the overpowering salty flavor. They used the perfect amount of capers and onions, the tomato was juicy and the bagel was so fluffy. I literally spent the whole time so madly in love with my Nova that my partner had to ask me multiple times what my deal was, and all I could say is, "We gotta come back here again, bring friend xyz, try this this n that." The food my partner had was also amazing, he said the eggs were delicious and well cooked, and he loved his bagel and the cheese they had, saying it tasted better than he was ready for it to.
You won't find better homemade food while supporting a family owned and operated business, which prides itself on the services they and the family as a whole have provided. The husband wife team really make this work for them. They did explain they're concerned right now about the dock workers going on strike, so please support this company and keep going here or come visit. I know we will!
I'll add my photos later!
Update: food is even better, somehow, and the atmosphere? Also way better somehow! It was so nice seeing them busy with a good amount of customers and I'm so glad they're kicking butt and doing so well, we will definitely keep...
Read moreMy family loves this place. We've been a couple times, and they have the best homemade bagels and bialys around. Not only are the breads amazing, but they put what my wife calls a "New York amount" of homemade cream cheese on these bad boys. All of this makes sense when you meet the family that owns the place and learn they hail from there. They even have a signed photo from Joe Dimaggio on the deli counter. If you're reading this, nervous about the brash east coasters who will glare with their lips until you're done ordering, fear not. They're some of the sweetest people in the Valley and love helping their customers get exactly what they need. They'll even teach you just what the heck a bialy is.
However, I'm writing today to tell you about something that is so delightful... so particularly perfect, that I can GUARANTEE the only place to get it from is Arizona Bagels and Bialys. In fact, it's so damn delicious that even if they were the snarling, viscious, "I'm walking here" types that we all really want New Yorkers to be, I would still show up and navigate all humiliating emotional obstacle courses in order or get it. HOMEMADE GARLIC & HERB CREAM CHEESE. I'm aware that you've had garlic and herb cream cheese before. It's not a new invention, but this wonderful family wraps you up in their warm, bagel-loving arms and lifts you up to a level of flavor perfection that was previously known only to the angels and nonas. It's perfect.
If you don't believe me, take a look at how many reviews this grumpus right here posts and understand that I simply can't be bothered. Or you could just stop by, get a beautifully handmade bagel or bialy and try it yourself. You'll be back...
Read moreThis review may get a bit long. If you just want the “Cliff’s Notes” version, go, order the Nova bagel, eat it, rejoice…
That being said, here are the details… I stopped here as it was close to my shopping destination (the Goodwill), and I was pretty hungry. Walked in, no prices on the sandwich board. I asked about that and was pleasantly told that each bagel, or bialy, was made to order, so prices varied. However, I was told that the Nova bagel (bagel, smoked salmon, cream cheese, tomato, red onion, and capers) was $11.85. Now I have a reasonably sophisticated palate, but I’m pretty cheap. An $11 sandwich gets me to twitching a little. But… I was hungry, I was there, and the Nova did sound pretty good. So I ordered one (and it came with coleslaw, and dill chips). Not much time and I had my order, to go. When I got to the car, I discovered that the coleslaw was a portion slightly smaller than your typical Costco sample, which was fine because it wasn’t worth eating. And the dill chips, we’re not dill potato chips (as I, incorrectly, assumed) but another condiment sized container with a few pickles in it (they were actually pretty tasty). So far, not so good. But then… I unwrapped the massive, overstuffed bagel and took a bite. All of the other shortcomings faded into the background as this masterpiece of a sandwich entertained my taste buds. So, in summary… go, order the Nova, throw away the coleslaw, and enjoy your bagel. (I...
