Not the Dickey's of old but, still good. This new little location was busy throughout our visit. Our service was fast and friendly. The brisket was done perfectly. The jalapeno cheddar kielbasa was a bit dry along with the pulled pork. The beans and potato salad is good, the creamed spinach really needs more spinach, the slaw is perfect. The cleaning of the tables could be kept up a bit better however the bathrooms where spotless. Cheers, I'm sure Dirty & Dude will visit again. History lesson; Dickey's Barbecue Pit is a true American success story. In 1941, Travis Dickey, a World War II veteran, opened the first Dickey's Barbecue Pit in Dallas, Texas. Dickey was a true Texas character blessed with the gift of gab and the love of authentic, slow-smoked barbecue. In the beginning, Dickey’s Barbecue Pit was truly a family operation with Travis working the block and Miss Ollie Dickey serving sandwiches. Space on the restaurant sign was rented out to help pay the start-up costs for the restaurant and the menu was limited to beef brisket, pit hams, barbecue beans, potato chips, beer, bottled milk and sodas. Brothers Roland and T.D. Dickey took over the business in 1967, continuing their father’s legacy of quality, hickory smoked signature meats. Under the direction of the Dickey brothers, Dickey’s Barbecue Pit expanded throughout the Dallas Fort Worth area and quickly became known throughout Texas for mouthwatering hickory-smoked barbecue, popular catered events and the iconic Big Yellow Cups. Franchising began in 1994 after loyal guests and barbecue fanatics demanded more locations. Today with nearly 600 locations in 43 states, loyal guests are what keep Dickey’s thriving in every community. The brand has come a long way from Travis Dickey’s first location. But, some things never change. Dickey’s Barbecue Pit still slow smokes all meats on-site just the same way they did in 1941. The menu features beef brisket, pulled pork, St. Louis style ribs, polish sausage, spicy cheddar sausage, smoked turkey, and marinated chicken, with an extensive array of homestyle sides from jalapeño beans to macaroni and cheese. Buttery rolls are served with every meal along with complementary ice cream. And just like always, kids eat free on Sunday. Roland Dickey, Jr. became Chief Executive Officer in 2006 continuing the family tradition. As the fast casual chain racks up recognition, the Dickey family still serves up the same quality barbecue recipes handed down for generations coupled with the same brand of southern hospitality, only on a much larger scale. You can follow Dirty & Dude K15 Adventures on Instagram and Facebook. See where we are headed next. Typically, remote destinations where the journey of Fishing, Kayak Fishing, Hunting, Camping is the principal goal with, some shenanigans thrown in.

My family and I love dickeys BBQ we’ve been to many different locations in CA and Texas and never have we been to one this bad. We walked in and none of the menu signs are on, you view the menu by reading paper menus that are tapped up. It looks very trashy. They also don’t offer ice cream at this location which is a huge bummer because that’s so much fun especially when you have kids. But all that aside we still were hoping for great food and service. Neither of those were the case. The cashier was unfriendly and rude. The restaurant was empty and that really should’ve been our red flag to just turn around and leave. We ended up spending $50 and most of our food went into the trash! It was disgusting. We ordered ribs that looked similar to charcoal briquettes. My bacon in the green beans looked like wet cat food and the amount of fat and questionable pieces of meat on our plates was scary. Oh and the soda machine was down so there was only tea to wash down this questionable food. The employees weren’t good at providing good food or service but they were very good at stacking cups in the back.

This was our first time ordering from Dickey’s and I wish the experience was a little better. When I was placing my order with the first man he was very rude, short, not welcoming and overall just looked like he didn’t want to be there. For example, a couple that ordered behind us asked if there was a family platter, and the man didn’t say a word and just pointed up at the menu. Another gentleman finished my order, (not sure of his name but he had braces), and was nicer and helped recommend a couple of sides for my family. I ordered the brisket sandwiches for my husband and I and it was pretty dry, jalapeño beans didn’t have a flavor, and we had to finish baking the Dino nuggets for the kids at home because they weren’t all the way cooked. Not sure if it was just an off day or if they were understaffed, but we were pretty disappointed.

3 times, wrong order or over charged. DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION. Update: at the end of this review is contact from the merchant expressing regret and offering to have me contact him. I sent 2 emails and never received a response so again I urge you to avoid this location!!! We have given it benefit of the doubt but no it is just badly run. We live about 20 mins away but shop near there so we have picked up to go. Well last night was the last straw. We entered and there were 2 tables occupied and one customer paying for his order. We walked up to the counter and there were 3 people working a cashier and 2 taking and preparing orders. No one greeted or spoke to us they were busy having a conversation among themselves. After a few mins we headed to the chasier think maybe we order there. 2 steps and he point "no she will take your order". We gave her our order and she said "no he will do your sides" sending us to the next person. Side taker continued his conversation with the cashier while taking our order which we had to give twice. When we paid, we were over charged, which they did correct. 10 mins later we get our food and head home. My husband commented that the service had not improved since last visit. When we got home we discovered that out of 5 sides ordered only 1.5 were correct. How do you get half of a side right. Well that takes true talent. I ordered the Cesar salad side and received a cup of undressed lettuce, without the Cesar dressing it is just a dry salad. As I have after each visit I called the manager. He was apathetic, he did apologize and did not even offer to make it right. I asked for the owner's name and contact which he gave and I called and left a message. Not holding out hope for that. There are too many great restaurants in Gilbert to waste your time and money here. I will try the location in...

Wish I would have read the reviews before ordering here. Ugh!! We ordered for a lazy Sunday dinner, my husband was craving bbq and this is not somewhere we eat really ever. 100 dollars later… we get delivery (ordered directly through Dickeys, not a 3rd party) with HALF our food. To this day I will never understand why this still happens. You have a receipt, it’s essentially your checklist… place an item on the receipt in the bag, check it off, and so on. To miss items is truly wild, and there’s no excuse. And with the cost of food these days to not even get what you pay for… oof. We proceeded to contact the store to fix it: they couldn’t deliver the missing food and wasn’t able to refund until speaking to a manager who was not working. Another mind blowing moment. After a game of messenger between the employee, the non existent off duty manager and us we finally got our order partially refunded (this is alleged, haven’t seen the transaction post yet and they said they couldn’t give any confirmation # or receipt… sigh). It was explained to me that this happened because they have 2 people working and were very busy (with no manager or supervisor on duty). We were also told they would write our name down in their “screw up” book for free food when we came back. Yes you read that right, they log when they mess up and offer to make it right the next time you come in - if you have a book dedicated to just this, time to have a meeting of the minds and make some changes, no? You can’t make this stuff up people. Simply put, avoid this joint. Staff really needs some help as customer service and attention to detail is not at top of mind for them, in fact there apparently is no management that works there so it’s just a free for all. Save yourself the headache and go spend your...
