Mad Hatter Kava — Restaurant in Gilbert

One of our favorite places to frequent as of late has been The Mad Hatter, in our previous visits we had met a friendly owner. The owner was out going had great camaraderie with staff, and customers alike. Had our experience continued as before the star rating above would be a five star for sure! Unfortunately like Alice, we would meet the Queen of Hearts... As I mentioned before we had been there previously and had noticed regulars that sat at the bar typing away on lap tops. In previous times it had been a charming room where we could all work on various projects with this magic synergy in the air. When talking with my writing friend that has never ever experienced Kava, I knew the perfect place, and perhaps we would find inspiration. When we arrived the wonderland was occupied by the Queen and her court unbeknownst to us.There was four in our group and we were at the end of the bar closest to the entertainer. My friend's gf seated herself. There were two other seats open. When my partner and I recognized a regular. As we began making room for the regular, the queen of hearts entered. A loud whisper, "Oh no you don't, come talk to me?" The regular walked closer I believe to make the incident more private. The Queen of hearts began chastising the regular for taking a seat from paying customers. She continued telling him he was not wanted there, and he never purchases drinks. She insisted that she was just looking out for him and he needed to leave these nice people alone... At that point I couldn't stand there any longer. I turned to the woman and said, "You need to stop you're making me feel uncomfortable." She insisted I was wrong, and I said no, You're wrong. We were offering our seats, and I don't care if he has bought drink or not he just got here. She said I didn't know the history. I retorted, " You can't do this anymore, denying people a seat at the bar that went out a long time ago, and there's no reason to bring it back. She began yelling at me that this is her sons big moment. I said it doesn't excuse bad behavior, and I have watched people of privilege walk all over everyone without consequence, I refuse to be bystander when someone being racist. She began saying honey I'm the owner's ex wife! The artist briefly tried getting the queen to calm down, and then a man with a booming voice began yelling at us ladies to go out side.This was the King of Hearts as I have since learned the co owner. I was floored that no one was reassuring the regular. Later a woman who I thought was a manager was asking my story. After explaining my experience she said we just want everyone happy, and she was the gf of the owner, clearly my concerns regarding the queen of hearts was not going to be heard. When I was walking out the Queen of Hearts said good riddance, we don’t want your kind here and clapped. I then waited for rest of my group as they quickly paid. This was such a magical place. I was excited with the new projects they have with their new line of Kratom (which I was currently in the middle of reviewing for a blog). "Regular Guy", if you're out there. I genuinely wanted you to have the seat, and I apologize for how you were treated. I won't be returning to this establishment, not because my kind is unwanted there. The environment is way too unpredictable, and I wouldn't want another run in with the Queen or any...

I found my new hidden Gem... More people should know about this place! Everything about this place is great. The drinks are definitely something different and its an acquired tasted IMO... I looked up online "Non alcoholic bars" and found this place on google, I'm glad I took a leap of faith and tried Mad Hatter.

I brought my party of 20+ people here for my birthday this past Sunday (09/01) to try something new and all of us have never tried anything like it.... I gave up alcohol a while ago and I love going out but hate having any sort of pressure to drink so I am glad this place was everything I was hoping for. All my guests in my party had such a great, fun, relaxing time and they all said it was a great experience. I have been back once since & I'm sure this is going to be my new hangout spot and relaxing spot. The atmosphere is highly relaxing, and the customer service is outstanding. I can't remember the bartenders name from Sunday night but she was ABSOULTELY amazing and very knowledge about the drinks on the menu. Also the place is decorated so amazingly.

Cons: The only things I would add on here for management is maybe to add a tint, window shade or some sort of dark shades on the wall where you walk in to block the light coming from the window where the door is out and black it out. I came during the day and I can say I would much rather come at night because the inside atmosphere of the place is very chill, calm and collected.

-More social media!! I haven't heard anything about this place ever and MORE people need to know about this place!

Also- When I came yesterday I saw there was games on the shelf. Me and my friend had such a great time playing a board game and enjoying time together. When I came in yesterday the bartender asked if it was my first time there and I said no I came the other day, I would recommend when the bartenders ask if someone is new follow up with telling the new customers that there is games/cards to play with because for me that is a make it or break it if there is nothing to do when I am relaxing.

I remember Nick, but can't remember the amazing female bartender that helped my group. Both were amazing and very personable!

Anyways, I rate the place 5/5 stars. I will definitely be back & I look forward to coming back!! I enjoy the red kratom it makes me very relaxed in a happy positive chill mood.
