Went there last night for the first time since moving here from Chicago. We've wanted to try it for some time now and finally had the opportunity. Got there around 6:30ish, between the inside and outside patio, probably around 35-40 people. We were seated inside fairly promptly by Colton, but very soon became apparent that he was the only person waiting tables, inside and out. Took a while to get a couple waters, then longer to get a couple drinks. Beer was not very cold, margarita was poured out of a bottle (premade mix) into a glass with not quite enough ice. If there was Tequila in it, it wasn't much. Finally able to order dinner, gf ordered 2 lobster tacos, I ordered 1 lobster, 1 swordfish so I could get a taste of each. When the meal finally arrived, so so on being "hot", they gave my gf 2 swordfish tacos instead of the 2 lobster she ordered. Mine was correct, 1 of each. While eating, the couple who was behind us finished and left, and Colton seated another couple there when they left. Now, while he was wearing a mask the whole time we were there, i never saw the table cleaned and sanitized before the others were seated. The person directly behind my gf was about 2 foot away, so no social distancing as required by the governor. Bathrooms were not very clean, and besides Colton, we only saw 2 people come out of the kitchen briefly, then went back in, never lending any assistance. We felt bad that he was handling everything including the patio crowd, but that is an issue for management not having enough people on staff to handle their dinner crowd. ' I am sorry to say, I doubt if we will every return as it was not a good dining experience for us. The lobster was deep friend, so that taco was great, the swordfish we could not...
Read moreFood is always great. Service and wait time is hit and miss. We were sat immediately 630 on a Friday night. We placed an order for tacos, Two margaritas, shrimp tostadas, and fried shrimp and chips. Our server disappeared for 40 min. When we got up to check on our appetizer, the staff indicated that there had been too many to go orders and that our food would up shortly. I asked it they could bring out water. They were unable to. While up they brough out the food. All together. The server wanted us to know she had to fight for our food and the jitchen misplaced the ticket. We were fine and looking forqard to our food. We asked again for water and silverware. They never returned. After another 15 min of waiting we asked for a manager. We were told the manager Pablo is not talking to customers this evening...then were were advised that he was too busy running the kitchen. We had yo ask for another server to bring our check as Zalina kept diappearing. She came out when we were paid and apologized and gave ua a very explicit explanation of the issues. We didnt get to.enjoy.our food, they never returned with silverware or condiments, she cleared it and didnt offer a box. Just a waste of time and money. We'll gladly go to Barrio queen or other taco shops prior to...
Read more2022 Edit: What happened??? I’ve had to knock my 5 star review down to 1 star because the last 3 times I’ve been here I’ve had to apologize to my companions about the food and the service. It used to be the best fish tacos in the world. Now…you order a taco and you get a mountain of dry coleslaw cabbage, with some Baja colored water sauce and no cotija. You break your teeth on rice that’s 2-3 days old. Store bought runny salsa and acrid over cooked fish. What gives?? (End Edit) ————————————- If I was ever on Death Row, I want SoCal Fish Tacos for my last meal. And SoCal Fish Tacos for dessert. I've had fish tacos all over the world. Nobody beats theirs. If you get up from the table to use the rest room, you better take yours with you because it won't be there when you get back. It's a quick meal. Great for a fast lunch. Inexpensive, but flavorful. Ultra casual environment. Eat inside or out. Tacos come with standard beans & rice for sides. Typical oceanside surfer food and surf environment. Serves bottle beer, wine, & 2 flavor margaritas. Great service, friendly staff. They also serve non-seafood meals, sides, & the best Chicken Tortilla soup EVER. Food is made fresh in house, not processed or frozen. Portions are perfect. I always feel full, but...
