Went there last night for the first time since moving here from Chicago. We've wanted to try it for some time now and finally had the opportunity. Got there around 6:30ish, between the inside and outside patio, probably around 35-40 people. We were seated inside fairly promptly by Colton, but very soon became apparent that he was the only person waiting tables, inside and out. Took a while to get a couple waters, then longer to get a couple drinks. Beer was not very cold, margarita was poured out of a bottle (premade mix) into a glass with not quite enough ice. If there was Tequila in it, it wasn't much. Finally able to order dinner, gf ordered 2 lobster tacos, I ordered 1 lobster, 1 swordfish so I could get a taste of each. When the meal finally arrived, so so on being "hot", they gave my gf 2 swordfish tacos instead of the 2 lobster she ordered. Mine was correct, 1 of each. While eating, the couple who was behind us finished and left, and Colton seated another couple there when they left. Now, while he was wearing a mask the whole time we were there, i never saw the table cleaned and sanitized before the others were seated. The person directly behind my gf was about 2 foot away, so no social distancing as required by the governor. Bathrooms were not very clean, and besides Colton, we only saw 2 people come out of the kitchen briefly, then went back in, never lending any assistance. We felt bad that he was handling everything including the patio crowd, but that is an issue for management not having enough people on staff to handle their dinner crowd. ' I am sorry to say, I doubt if we will every return as it was not a good dining experience for us. The lobster was deep friend, so that taco was great, the swordfish we could not...

Food is always great. Service and wait time is hit and miss. We were sat immediately 630 on a Friday night. We placed an order for tacos, Two margaritas, shrimp tostadas, and fried shrimp and chips. Our server disappeared for 40 min. When we got up to check on our appetizer, the staff indicated that there had been too many to go orders and that our food would up shortly. I asked it they could bring out water. They were unable to. While up they brough out the food. All together. The server wanted us to know she had to fight for our food and the jitchen misplaced the ticket. We were fine and looking forqard to our food. We asked again for water and silverware. They never returned. After another 15 min of waiting we asked for a manager. We were told the manager Pablo is not talking to customers this evening...then were were advised that he was too busy running the kitchen. We had yo ask for another server to bring our check as Zalina kept diappearing. She came out when we were paid and apologized and gave ua a very explicit explanation of the issues. We didnt get to.enjoy.our food, they never returned with silverware or condiments, she cleared it and didnt offer a box. Just a waste of time and money. We'll gladly go to Barrio queen or other taco shops prior to...

2022 Edit: What happened??? I’ve had to knock my 5 star review down to 1 star because the last 3 times I’ve been here I’ve had to apologize to my companions about the food and the service. It used to be the best fish tacos in the world. Now…you order a taco and you get a mountain of dry coleslaw cabbage, with some Baja colored water sauce and no cotija. You break your teeth on rice that’s 2-3 days old. Store bought runny salsa and acrid over cooked fish. What gives?? (End Edit) ————————————- If I was ever on Death Row, I want SoCal Fish Tacos for my last meal. And SoCal Fish Tacos for dessert. I've had fish tacos all over the world. Nobody beats theirs. If you get up from the table to use the rest room, you better take yours with you because it won't be there when you get back. It's a quick meal. Great for a fast lunch. Inexpensive, but flavorful. Ultra casual environment. Eat inside or out. Tacos come with standard beans & rice for sides. Typical oceanside surfer food and surf environment. Serves bottle beer, wine, & 2 flavor margaritas. Great service, friendly staff. They also serve non-seafood meals, sides, & the best Chicken Tortilla soup EVER. Food is made fresh in house, not processed or frozen. Portions are perfect. I always feel full, but...

What can I say? I am from southern California originally. Me and my wife miss the beaches and the great food. Coming to "So-Cal Fish Taco Co." makes us feel like were back at the beach. It's a little , cozy, and very relaxing place. There are a few tables inside, but lots of out door seating, under the covered patio, with misters going, when it's hot. The staff here really seems to like working here. Very nice, personal and just down right friendly. Ok, ok, so how's the food? The food is great! I have a hard time ordering anything but the "Cod Tacos". My wife also loves the Cod Tacos, but her favorite is the Fish and chips, which I too, will say is great. My sons love it here, so this is an easy choice to bring the family, everyone is happy here. I have never been a crab cake lover, but that changed when we tried theirs for our appetizer. It's so good, add a squeeze of lemon, and it's perfect. You get two cakes per order, so with my two boys with us, you better not day dream or it will be gone before my first bite. My youngest son LOVES the Lobster tacos, as well. It's such a nice place to just kick back and enjoy a nice meal, remember the beach back home, and then it's back to reality, and the hot Arizona sun.

Found this place while looking for a place to take a dinner break. It’s conveniently located in the downtown area of Gilbert and has plenty of parking in back and around the corner. It’s a clean and well kept establishment with a laid back surfer atmosphere and decor. I ordered the Blackened Grouper Tacos and came back for more to try the Beer Battered Mahi Tacos. Both were excellently prepared and very tasty. The grouper was moist and tender while the mahi had a nice crisp battered coating and was also moist and tender inside. There is inside seating, an outside patio and windows for your ordering and pick up facing the street. The service by the waitstaff was fast and friendly. They also have the Taco Tuesday specials with even cheaper prices. If you’re a fan of fish tacos or fish and chips like I am this place is awesome and reasonably priced, plus they also have shrimp and lobster tacos.

The weather was perfect over the weekend, we decided to head over to downtown Gilbert for lunch. This was my first time to So Cal Taco and it’s not bad. Limited indoor seating the back outdoor patio seating was very appealing. They have heaters for the cooler weather and a couple TV’s. Casual and genuine. The menu is ample providing many choices. We are here for the tacos. Service was friendly and pretty quick however, the kitchen seemed to be on the slow side. We ordered the; Cod, nothing special just good. Blackened Grouper was overdone. Lobster the batter was very salty and took everything away from it being Lobster. Mai the better of the four ImO… I wish the beans and rice was a larger serving. Price is a little on the higher side and you’d think the tacos would be on point! Definitely will revisit to see if we can push the rating up.
