Unfortunate first time experience. Came in Saturday 9 am. Server was nice and attentive enough. We ordered a skillet and asked for fruit to substitute the potatoes . This came out with potatoes and no fruit. We asked for fruit as we would attempt to eat around the potatoes. Unfortunately all of the chicken, peppers, and cheese were mixed well into the potatoes leaving only the eggs, English muffin, and fruit as the edible portion. The server asked how it was and we told her it wasn’t a favorite …verbatim. She chose to giggle at this and not question further what was wrong. She did offer something else but we declined. We received the bill with the meal on it. We asked the server to remove this in lieu of the error made and inability to eat a meal without the inconvenience of picking around the potatoes and losing out on the main protein. A “manager” who did not introduce herself came back and advised of a $5 discount to remove potatoes. I stated this is not appropriate considering we do not eat the majority of the dish. She then said that the error happened because we confused the server and she did not agree with removing the dish. I stated this was not an appropriate way to handle this and she said she would give me the owners number to discuss with them. I am actually quite taken back by the fact that this conversation was going this way and I advised her that the conversation was getting worse and I would like it to end now. How can you tell a guest that they are in the wrong and direct them to contact the owner personally on my Saturday morning to complain again? Are we serious? That is aggressive and passive aggressive all at the same time. Poor and untrained management running first time guests out the door. Restaurant manager here myself… and I would be fired instantly if I handled a guest concern like that. The overall impression of this experience is they are trained to not remove items from the bill and minimize the overall loss to the business and asking guests to contact the owner is completely unreasonable when the owner is paying the manager to handle these things...
Read moreI thus far have been unsuccessful in finding "amazing" or even "good tasting" gluten-free pancakes in Mesa since January 2024.
In these past 9 months, including today, we still haven't found any restaurant that has acceptable gf pancakes.
I was excited to try this place since someone in the reviews recommended the gf oatmeal pancakes saying they were good, but I have to disagree, and here is why. The gluten-free oatmeal pancake was huge, which is a pro ( considering most places, serve you 1 or 2 very small ones). The first bite was so disappointing. They were lacking in so many ways, but the two biggest issues were taste and texture. Think of a ladle of cooked oatmeal thrown on a hot greasy griddle cooked until browned.
After cutting a piece off, I noticed how wet or overly moist they were. The center was sticky and wet. The taste was like eating a scoop of plain, regular cooked oatmeal with a little crunch from the parts that were browned. No taste other than oatmeal and grease.
I really tried to like them. I tried the syrup, then the blueberry compote, and lastly, the fresh berries. However, nothing helped to improve the taste of the pancake to make it acceptable.
The server, Rustina, was brilliant. So pleasant and courteous. Timely, and she was so delightful.
She was wonderful when I let her know that I did not like the pancake. She asked what I'd like to try instead, and I ordered the gluten-free avacado toast.
Now, this was a completely different experience! This was delightful on the taste buds. The gluten-free avacado qtoast had a flavorful, helping of avacado on the toast with greens and a slice of lemon. It was so fresh and tasty.
I 100% recommend the gluten-free avacado toast, but I suggest avoiding the oatmeal pancakes at all cost if you have taste buds or issues with texture.
As a gluten-free, intolerant individual, all restaurants should have gluten-free options that taste just as good as regular food. If they offer gluten-free items, they should make sure they are just...
Read moreI called ahead for seating. When we arrived they took us right to our spot. Unfortunately it was in the back corner by the restrooms and we wanted to change seating. When I went to the front I waited for a minute and the woman asked me if I needed something. I told her my request and I definitely didn't feel like she cared. She told the young ladies at the hostess stand and they too seemed somewhat irritated. I explained I was happy to wait for a table because I don't want to take up a 4 top of there's only 2 of us. They said okay and waved me towards a table. Honestly I wanted to leave but then I told my friend that maybe they're just having a bad day and I'm not going to take it personal. Well... I'm SO GLAD WE STAYED! Within 30 seconds the sweetest young lady named , Morgan showed up with a big smile and pure happiness on her face. I joked with her and she laughed and called me out on my BS about knowing her family. She dropped off our bloody Marys and I told her the straw (a stalk of celery) was broken because I couldn't get anything through it. She said "well that's what you get make it work" we all laughed and she took our food order. It came out promptly and it was delicious! Biscuits and gravy 2 eggs and potatoes! She turned my experience around 100% and that's what I tipped her! She came back and said "this is way too much" I explained that I was unhappy and she turned it around by simply being herself! She was very appreciative and sweet! She's only 19 years old and I told her "know your worth" I know it's a long winded review but I'm so happy that we stayed and this young lady made our day! THANK YOU KIDDO! picture is from the website I forgot to take one....
