Disappointed. Decided to go here with my husband and son, as the reviews were good and we LOVE sushi. Over the years we have been to MANY sushi restaurants. We love to try new restaurants, away from our normal go to, to explore new flavors and atmospheres. After we had been seated and ordered our drinks the night became very uncomfortable. Our waitress was a younger lady (teenager), visibly nervous, but very polite and respectful. She made some mistakes and came back to double check with us on our order a few times, we did not mind. One of the sushi chefs was very rude, and continuously berated her for not knowing exactly what to do at all times, in front of customers. The menu (compared to other sushi restaurants), for the sushi rolls was not great, and almost seemed to be the same roll over and over with a tweak here and there. We ordered 7 rolls in all, none were exceptional but they were passable. Our last roll "The Alaskan" was brought to our table, my son and I took a single piece and ate it. Immediately we agreed, it was disgusting. The salmon was over cooked (chewy) as well as having a very fishy and sour taste, for salmon this is odd. We let the waitress know our feeling on the roll, we were told "that's odd some people really like it" and the roll was left on the table. Our check (over $80) was dropped at our table, and "The Alaskan" roll was still on our check. When we asked why we were told that the owner said she would not removed it and claimed "Just because they didn't like it doesn't mean they shouldn't pay for it, there is nothing really wrong with it." Unbelievable.

   Read moreUpdate: I'm very disappointed that 2 out of the last 3 times we went here (including today when we rode our bikes over just to eat there well before closing time) they closed early. We literally walked in, the place still of people, and were sent away. I think I'm going to have to change my review because i didn't get anything! The last time I had literally just finished talking the place up to my friend you get there and they closed early. No notices of It either. Guess I'll just go back to my fav sushi place even though they're further away. At least they don't unexpectedly shut down early all the years I've been going there.
It was OK. I can't give it 5 starts cuz it's still not as good as my fav sushi place also in Gilbert but in a pinch like today it's still good. I realize it's a small place but I'd recommend the owners hire some more servers. The poor lady was running around like a chicken with her head cut off so it was taking a little longer to get refills, ordered & sauces. But overall the food was good, and I'm pretty picky when it comes to my sushi. We ordered our usual. It came out pretty quick and in the correct order. House salad, miso, gyoza, then the rolls we had were smoked Philly, California, Shrimp Tempura & Las Vegas. The only issue we had was the Las Vegas had tuna in it and when it was fried it got really dry but the rest was good. Again, pretty good. We'll be back sometime I'm sure. Maybe another time our fav sushi...

We just walked in to eat lunch at Yanagi sushi on Cooper and Warner, literally a one year since weâve last eaten here, we travel all around the world. The owner refuse service to my family and I, she said she got a bad review from somebody who said our kids were loud over a year and a half ago.... So because our kids may or may not have caused another guest to leave a bad review she has decided to refuse us service. I have never in my life been refuse service, especially at a hole in the wall sushi place in the strip mall. This owner should be ashamed of herself for embarrassing my family and I. Luckily nobody is in the establishment today. Shocker. I think it's completely unacceptable to punish us because she got a bad review one year ago because our kids may may or may not have been noisy. She should be absolutely ashamed of herself. The review she's referring to says a toddler and her father. First of all I have a son (4)and I have never eaten at this restaurant with just me and a kid. It has always been my family of four. This owner is confused and banned us over here say and has embarrassed myself and my whole family. And the complaint review she refers to has lots of complaints about everything about this restaurant. Just an angry person, and my family is being punished. Furthermore upon research I was in El Paso Texas for a couple of weeks of business when this review was written she's referring...
