I changed my review to 3 stars after having dinner at El Tequila. They managed to get my order wrong, brought me a beer I hadn't ordered and the rice is flavorless. Very disappointing.
We had lunch at El Tequila's and were very impressed with the quality of the food. I ordered the Tacos de Azada which comes with rice and beans. It was delicious. The tortillas were soft but strong enough to wrap the meat and veggies with out tearing apart. The rice and beans were also very good.
My wife ordered the lunch burrito which came with rice, sour cream, guacamole, and pico de gallo. She especially liked the rice which was very tender and flavorful. She gave her pico de gallo to me and I topped my tacos with it. It was excellent!
The restaurant is comfortable and nicely decorated and we were seated as soon as we walked in. My only negative is the complementary chips were a bit over cooked and the salsa was not as spicy as I would have liked.
Overall, we enjoyed our visit and the food and we will be back for more. El Tequila's is one of the best Mexican restaurants in the Laconia area. The other one is El Jimador. None of the others are close to these two. Their food is as good as any Mexican food you will...
Read moreUPDATE (4/29): Got the Tacos El Pastor for lunch and was not pleased at all. The 3 tacos, onions, green sauce and Cilantro were all plated nicely, but the disgusting chunks of fat I pulled out of all three was enough to have filled one of them by itself. The beans were way too salty (recommend sticking with the black beans) and neither my wife nor I could finish them. The rice was just ok. Sadly, the best part of the meal was the ginger ale and the chips. Our server was polite and attentive. Both of us had "gastric issues" for the rest of the day, so El Jimador will get our business from now on.
ORIGINAL (3 stars): Went here the first week they were open and thought the food was just so-so, but happily, the Margaritas were excellent. They don't make their tortillas on premise, which was a downer and the Mexican steak was quite gristly. The server was very new, polite and friendly, however she was wearing a winter vest which was covered with either dog or cat hair. Didn't really enhance our experience at all. I'm hoping she's been told by management that that's not really a good image for the restaurant. Will give it another chance in the next month. Hopefully, it'll be a...
Read moreTL;DR This is some of the best Mexican food I've ever had.
FOOD: Everything that we ordered was excellent. They have a vegetarian menu which has some amazing enchiladas on it. You'd think they just have black bean enchiladas. But no! They also have sauteed mushrooms and spinach enchiladas for vegetarians! The enchilada sauce is made in house and is delicious. The tortillas were so soft and fresh that you can bet your burrito they make those in house too. The margaritas were huge and they hooked them up with plenty of tequila for a price that is a fraction of what you'd expect to pay for a goblet with such heft. Don't forget to ask for the house habanero hot sauce. It's ripe and fruity but not for the faint of heart. The level of yumminess we experienced did not happen by accident. It is apparent great care was taken in their recipes, preparation, and execution.
SERVICE: Fast, attentive, got everything right. Really can't get any better than that.
ATMOSPHERE: The chairs here are beautifully carved and have ornate paintings of Mexican scenes on them. They're really quite beautiful....
